Chapter 4: Upgrading Biosolids Equipment The Marinette team was focused on identifying long-term solutions and efficient technology to do the right thing for the environment and our rate payers. Here are some items we considered when upgrading our biosolids: ⚒ Our considerations for the equipment centered around using our existing infrastructure. ⚒ After we went through the process of landfilling the biosolids across the country, we understood that disposal costs were high, and we did not want to break the bank with construction. ⚒ Looking at all the different technologies for dewatering and drying, the size of the equipment and our available space was taken into consideration. Warren and Paul met at a conference, and he brought to our attention the Process Wastewater Technologies, LLC press and the SHINCCI-USA dryer. 📣 SITE UPDATE: STRASBOURG, FRANCE 🔝 We have started the treatment of the 3rd pile on our site in Strasbourg, France. ✔️ We are applying Ex-Situ Thermal Desorption (ESTD) to remediate the soil contaminated with Hydrocarbons and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). 🌡️ The desired treatment temperature is 250°C and 77 burners are heated to treat 2000m³ of soil. 💡 We are glad to announce that we have introduced a system of continuous monitoring of stack emissions. As soon as we approach the threshold, an alert is triggered, enabling us to take immediate action to resolve the situation. In this way, we are able to guarantee greater compliance with current standards ! 🤝 We are working on this project site with LINGENHELD Groupe. The Tampa metropolitan area, comprised of Hillsborough (#13) and Pasco Counties (#49), experienced a combined population growth of approximately 350,000 residents from 2010 to 2020. To meet the rising demand for wastewater management, TDG is being utilized to design a major, 25 million gallons per day (MGD) treatment plant. TDG enables the creation of designs that are not just quick and efficient, but also fully compliant with regulatory standards. It promises a smooth, streamlined process, ensuring that the proposed treatment plant can be operational in the shortest time possible. The facility’s design incorporates primary clarifiers for the initial phase of wastewater treatment. By enabling the settling out of suspended solids, the primary clarifiers effectively lessen the load on subsequent stages of the process, enhancing overall plant efficiency. For the main biological treatment, the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) – Integrated Fixed-Film Activated Sludge (IFAS) technology is integrated into the design. The MBBR-IFAS is an advanced, hybrid system that marries the benefits of both activated sludge and biofilm processes. This combination ensures increased treatment efficiency and resilience within a compact footprint.
