Recruiters and business owners can we put more consideration into what a salary should be for a Drupal developer. A Drupal developer with 3 years of experience writing custom modules should not be paid an annual salary of $55k. Honestly that's how much I could potentially make doing beer demos as a Brand Ambassador.

The core competencies of a Drupal Developer with 0 to 2 years of experience. I have been immersed in the Drupal community for 1.5 years now after working on 3 production sites, cowork with Drupal architects and attended a DrupalCon I have created a list of what the core competencies of Drupal Developer with 0 to 2 years of experience should have. 1) Git commands: git merge, git rebase, git pull. You should be very familiar with these git commands as this shows you have worked with a team of devs. 2) The terminal is your best friend. Grep, grep, grep. 3) By this time you should be able to write a small module that calls an API, ingest the data, displays the data in a data structure of your choice. 4) Write a simple custom theme. You should already be familiar with CSS preprocessors like SASS and frameworks like Bootstrap or Tailwind. 5) DDEV, Lando, Docksal, MAMP. You already picked one of these, are an expert at it and use it in every project. 6) You are an active contributor to open source projects. 7) Someone trusts you to commit to their repo. 8) And finally the most important one of all...Share Your Screen. Employers this is a great way to vet Drupal Developers as someone with 0 to 2 years of experience will have had so many task blockers that they needed a senior dev's assistance to overcome them. They should be able to do this without hesitation. #iteachemployershowtohiredrupaldevs

Part of my research as a Drupal developer has been talking to employers about their expectations for a developer with 0 to 2 years of experience. The reason why there is a bias towards "juniors" is because this expectation has never been defined. If your going to hire anyone regardless of experience that person should already have core competencies (site building, local environment, etc). To hire someone who has never worked on Drupal sites and doesn't have any knowledge of a local environment should not be categorized as a "junior" and should be accurately categorized as "entry level".

Hey fellow developers! I'm currently working on a Drupal project and I'm facing a dilemma. As someone who prefers coding over using the Admin Interface, I've built a robust application with minimal admin configuration. However, this approach has led to a conundrum: whether to share my code publicly. Some companies I'm interested in require access to my GitHub profile and project source code, as well as my Drupal profile. But I've kept my repository private so far. Should I make it public and share my source code with the world? I'd love to hear your thoughts! What are the pros and cons of open-sourcing my project? Will it increase my chances of getting hired or put my intellectual property at risk? Let's discuss! #Drupal #OpenSource #GitHub #DeveloperDilemma #CareerAdvice

Any issues with Drupal websites? Supporting and maintaining Drupal websites can be a pain if you don't have experienced team. But hiring can also be expensive. So what's the solution? I came up inspired by one of my conversations with a business partner about a new concept where a business doesn't have to create an internal team or even hire a contractors as they can fill the gap simply by using K3 Digital solution around expert consulting on demand. Let me know if you would like to hear more?

In my journey with Drupal, I must admit that I'm facing quite a unique challenge. Unlike my previous experiences with other technologies, I've found the Drupal community to have fewer resources available, with almost no support, making the learning curve steeper. As you start to explore Drupal, you'll notice that it can be quite complicated. Just getting the hang of its basic functions can be a bit of a challenge. The implementation and customization of the Drupal framework require years of experience and expertise, this could be one of the reasons why the platform has struggled to capture more of the CMS market share, resulting in a shortage of Drupal experts who can be quite expensive to hire for organizations. I'm reaching out for assistance as I navigate these complexities and would welcome any insights and guidance from my LinkedIn connections. #Drupal #CommunitySupport #Networking.
