I accepted a job offer from Hitachi Vantara earlier this month. High five, back flip! I know there are candidates who are considering working for us versus one of our competitors. I am writing this post to tell you what life is like on day one of week four on the job. 1. Culture: I have yet to meet one single person here who has the NMP (Not My Problem) attitude. Not only is everyone helpful, but everyone helps me immediately. Problems do not roll over from one day to the next. 2. Comfort: As everyone knows, I like to live “full out”. I used to tell my manager that if another planet were a sales territory, I’d be the first to get that job. After many years as an adventurer, I am injured in multiple locations. This company is helping get me set up with all my creature comforts so that I can bring it, but also be comfortable at the same time. They are highly “human” here. 3. Technology. At some point in my new hire process, this sentence crossed my mind: “Nothing is broken here”. I have worked with, and for, more than 50 companies on the Fortune 1000 list. With such broad exposure, I know what is “normal” and what is a “disaster” in big business. Hitachi Vantara is unquestionably exceptional. I cannot recall another company where things just work. 4. Management: I know, I know, who would expect me to praise management. But the reality is that I have struck gold. My manager is A-game. His manager has already allocated resources that I need to be successful doing my job here. And his manager’s manager said to me my new favorite catch phrase: “There’s only deadlines, and what needs to be done by then.” That’s right! 5. Relationships: Hitachi Vantara is big on maintaining relationships with partners. It is omnipresent. No matter which way you turn, there is a success story of working with a partner. I believe that is because we truly focus on solving customer problems for them. Last week, one of our partners said to me “Hitachi Vantara is the best-kept secret”. No joke! 6. Closeness: A lot of people who work in IT are better with things than they are people. I have interviewed many engineers who have told me this. That is not the case here. Hitachi Vantara is a highly globalized contemporary firm with a flexible WfH policy. I recall one of my co-workers joining me on video and I thought “I know my co-workers!”. Even though we are huge, this company feels small. 7. Nature: I love nature. And judging by the number of people who get sucked into Instagram feeds featuring cats, dogs and birds, I think we all do. We were designed to live in nature, not in concrete jungles. I could tell during the interview process that this company cares not only about people, but also animals, and the planet. So, it was no surprise that Earth Day was a holiday here. That’s it. I hope this helps anyone who is currently on the fence. Get off the fence, and get into the game.

"We are seeing a transition. Earlier, companies preferred to protect the IP by creating an extended team. But now as we get into design to build solutions, companies and Tier-1 suppliers have built that capacity, and are more open to outsourcing in the form of work packages," says Tech Mahindra's RV Narasimham at our ER&D summit 2024 hosted last week. 🎥 Watch the video below for more insight!
