Big props to Georgia Institute of Technology and The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design! This building is a living testament to what's possible when we push the boundaries of sustainable design. It's an inspiration to us all. Here are a few of the things that make the Kendeda Building so special:
*Net positive energy and water: The building produces more energy than it consumes and captures and reuses more water than it uses.
*Wastewater treatment on site: The Kendeda Building has no connection to the sewer system, as it treats its wastewater on site.
*Salvaged and local materials: The building incorporates salvaged and local materials whenever possible, reducing its environmental footprint and supporting the local economy.
*Beautiful rooftop garden: The building features a beautiful rooftop garden that provides food and is a wonderful example of how green spaces can be integrated into urban environments.

As an architect, at 10 o’clock in the morning, you need to be a poet, for sure. But at 11, you must become a humanist; otherwise, you’d lose your direction. And at noon, you absolutely need to be a builder. You need to be able to make a building, because architecture, in the end, is the art of making buildings.
On this Cesar Chavez Day, we're not only honoring the legacy of a remarkable leader but also celebrating a piece of history right here in Los Angeles – the Cesar Chavez-Macy Street Bridge!
Did you know that this iconic bridge is designated as Los Angeles City Historic-Cultural Monument No. 224? It's been a part of our city's landscape since 1926, standing as a testament to our rich transportation history and architectural heritage.
Constructed during the major bridge-building decade of 1923-1933, the Cesar Chavez/Macy Street Bridge is one of a group of 12 river bridges significant for their role in shaping the transportation landscape of Los Angeles. Chief Engineer Merrill Butler, a prominent bridge designer of the era, left his mark on this iconic structure.
Today, as we celebrate the achievements of Cesar Chavez, let's also take a moment to appreciate the historical significance of the Cesar Chavez-Macy Street Bridge. It's more than just a bridge – it's a symbol of our city's resilience, ingenuity, and enduring spirit.

“Measure twice, cut once”.
Here’s a sustainable business with a difference. Life size Plans Leinster use projection technology to provide you with a real-life walkthrough of your home or commercial building plans, revealing potential issues that otherwise typically reveal themselves during (or after) construction.
Identifying and resolving issues at the planning stage with a walkthrough setting avoids the costs and stress of re-work - and importantly avoids the associated waste of resources from re-work.
Well done to John Foley and Emma Foley for bringing this innovative solution to Ireland.
🏡 Discover Architectural Elegance with Frank Lloyd Wright’s William E. Martin House 🌟
I'm thrilled to share insights into one of Frank Lloyd Wright's lesser-known gems, the William E. Martin House, located in the historic Oak Park, Illinois. Designed in 1902, this Prairie-style home exemplifies Wright's innovative approach to residential architecture, blending form, function, and harmony with nature.
🔍 What makes the Martin House stand out is its compact, yet flowing layout that integrates the living spaces with the surrounding environment, a hallmark of Wright's design philosophy. From the strategic use of corner windows enhancing natural light to the thoughtful vertical distribution of private and communal areas, every element reflects a mastery of space and aesthetic coherence.
👀 We recently explored each level of this iconic house, examining the ingenious use of space from the basement to the serene third-floor playroom. The tour highlighted how Wright's designs are not only beautiful but also immensely practical, adapting to both the site constraints and the needs of the inhabitants.
As professionals in architecture, design, or real estate, understanding these historical contexts enhances our appreciation of architectural innovation and heritage. It also provides invaluable lessons on how thoughtful design can create timeless spaces.
📌 If you’re passionate about architecture or enjoy exploring historical designs, I encourage you to dive deeper into the story of the William E. Martin House and Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural philosophy.

Did you know? In the iconic poster for Sergio Leone's 'Once Upon a Time in America', starring Robert De Niro, the Manhattan Bridge appears, an infrastructure that, although always overshadowed by its "colleague" the Brooklyn Bridge, is a true example of innovation and technology. The older a structure is, the more likely it is to receive a special listing to recognize its architectural and historical significance.
Being listed also means that the property falls under the jurisdiction of the planning system, ensuring its protection for future generations.
In England, there are approximately 500,000 listed buildings classified into Grade I, Grade II*, and Grade II, each indicating its level of importance.
Only 2.5% of listed buildings hold Grade I status, denoting exceptional interest.
Here are some standout Grade I listed properties currently available for purchase, ranging from a charming townhouse in historic Chatham Dockyard to a Jacobean hall in Cheshire, as well as apartment conversions in both city and country settings.
