I work with my dad on construction and I set up cabinets, adding shelf pins, white caps, bumper pads, and setting up crowns and calking them. I wish to own my own installation company and have employees work under me.
https://lnkd.in/e_h_aHCy The link above is the site that I posted at the beginning of my internship to show everyone the ins and outs of what I do. 2 of the points that I chose from this site are about "Measuring for accuracy" and "Planning, scheduling and communication” back then. The site emphasizes the importance of measuring for accuracy and planning, scheduling, and communication in the construction process. Accuracy is crucial as it ensures that cabinets and shelves fit within their designated spaces. Planning, scheduling, and communication are also crucial as mistakes can lead to wasted time and effort. For instance, if cabinets and shelves are incorrectly chosen, the process can be time-consuming and wasteful, resulting in wasted time and effort. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize these aspects in the construction process. #alpineinternships #mountainlandcte Alpine School District

Today's Career Spotlight is Project Manager, Mike Stengl. Mike has been with the Samuels Group since 2016. What is your training and education? Bachelor’s degree in industrial studies with an emphasis on Building Construction Management from UW Platteville. Completed my OSHA 40 while in school along with some scaffold erecting and crane rigging accreditation, none of which are necessary for my position, but nothing wrong with having the knowledge. Training while at Samuels – WHEA certified I believe is the term, extremely helpful with working in healthcare. Had one summer internship with Samuels the summer before my senior year. What has been your job growth throughout your career? Interned with Samuels and got hired on after graduation. Started in the PA roll, extremely valuable to see the right and wrongs of a project and to build a understanding of my own management style. From there I progressed into my own small projects while performing the PA roll and slowly worked up to larger projects. What is your favorite part of your job? When a job is complete, big feeling of accomplishment. What advice would you give to someone looking to get into Project Management? Get an internship anywhere, even if it’s in a field that isn’t your ideal line of work. Industry experience is the most valuable thing in my eyes. #TheSamuelsGroup #DesignConstructFurnish #BuildingTogether #CareersInConstruction #ProjectManager

During my internship at Frontier Woodworks I have learned a lot. Such as measuring correctly is important because if you don’t do it right you have to do it again. I also learned how to work different machines and how they work and how to be safe around the machines.

Hosting an intern is a valuble tool, not only to your #business, but also to the #intern. That relationship is only beneficial if that intern is being mentored as though they were a new employee, not as the coffee maker, errand runner and grunt worker. Let that intern learn about your business and the various roles that are available, you could be helping them make a career decision. #nationalinternday
