Great to see all the nice feedback coming in on last week’s FAB 2024 event in Ontario, California here on LinkedIn. The thing that stands out to me about the event is the friendliness of the people who attend, the willingness to share ground-breaking ideas and insights with competitors, and the general airport F&B and hospitality community spirit that surrounds it. I am pictured with three of those people at FAB below; it was great to meet face to face people I admire who I have interviewed from afar and also some of those I would like to interview in the future. Sammy Patel (top left), Vice President, Commercial & CEO, Midway Partnership @ Vantage Group, gave me one of my best interviews last year, sharing superbly detailed insights into the strategy behind the stunning new retail and F&B programme at Kansas City International Airport. Pictured top right is iCoupon CEO Richard Bye who gave me a terrific interview earlier this year about how his innovative intelligent vouchering platform came from nowhere to penetrate the airline and airport market across the globe. The final image is with JFK International Air Terminal Vice President Customer Experience Belinda Jain, who, in a lengthy conversation, shared with me the thinking behind the development of world-class retail, F&B and passenger service concepts featuring a distinctive New York sense of place at her airport. That’s an interview I’d love to do when the work is complete. If you didn’t attend FAB this year, you should give it a try next year; I guarantee you will not be disappointed. We hope to announce an exciting venue for FAB 2025 soon. 2wI was there Mark! And I concur with all you say. Extraordinary hosts (Ontario International Airport), speakers, sponsors, social events, and delegates. The Awards night a cracker and I like to think we were quietly FAB ourselves.
