Finally going on-line for Military ID Cards … Hooah!!! After the banking and investment industry first led the way with responsibly handling sensitive personal information and the ability for the client to do “everything” electronically within and among banks and investment companies worldwide … followed by mortage/loan industry going fully electronic … followed by the retail industry … followed by the higher education industry & the gambling industry … followed by the driver license & auto registration and state ID industry, … followed by the Passport industry … etc., etc. … it’s nice to see DOD move to fully automated, electronic processes for ID/CAC Cards , Retiree ID Cards, etc. Hopefully soon, we’ll be able to pull up our personnel records for an entire career. Now … if we can get the healthcare industry to finally create a fully usable nationwide/worldwide Patient Electronic Medical Record … fully usable & accessable personal account where all forms can be filled out, (pre-appointment, pre-surgical & pre-hospitalization) … fully electronically transportable by the patient to anyone anywhere, especially to get 2nd opinions and specialty/subspecialty care … which contains an entire lifetime of health data (craddle to grave) … all notes, labs, x-rays (results & images). All a patient needs is account numbers and routing numbers like we use for banks … with secure log-in, medsaging, notifications, routing of selected info. The company that develops a usable, stable, reliable, secure portal system to integrate in … all hospitals, clinics, ERs, assisted living/nursing homes, doctors offices, labs, radiological centers, all health encounters … life would be so much easier and we can actually fairly utilize the saying “Patient Centered Care” rather than that being a tagline. Educating Soldiers about military retirement, advising and advocating for one million Retired Soldiers
Over the years, as I've traveled to speak to military retirees and their spouses, two frequently voiced concerns involve renewing ID cards. So here are two updates you should know about: 1) Thanks to the advocacy of the Army Chief of Staff's Retired Soldier Council with LTG (Ret) Tom Seamands, who was then the Army G-1, and his advocacy with the DOD Staff in 2019, the age when spouses receive an indefinite ID card (as opposed to renewing their ID cards every 4 years) was lowered from age 75 to 65. 2) From the #soldierforlife post below, DOD has extended its pilot program that permits authorized personnel to renew their ID cards online and receive the new card in the mail to military retirees and their spouses. Military retirees are authorized, but not required to use the online renewal option, and there are some security precautions involved, so it's not available to members who have post office boxes or live overseas, for example. Read the details at the link in the post below. Then pass it along to the military retirees you know who would like to use this ID renewal method. #soldierforlife #DEERS #RAPIDS #idcards #militaryretirees

Absolutely, your insights resonate deeply. While the military medical industry excels in medicine, it often lags in signal technology, logistics, and administration, as well as the synchronization across other ancillary services. Where's the integration into the new GCSS-A (SAP/ERP that was 10-15 years behind industry)? Genesis has been a nightmare. These two examples have shown the disparity of military vs civilian medical organizations and how they operate. Modernizing medical technology is imperative. New technology offers solutions in cyber security, predictive analytics, EHR systems, and telemedicine for remote care access. However, we all understand that integration requires balancing technology costs, medical operating expenses, and patient priorities. Prioritizing patient needs is key; administrative processes must reflect the patients' preferences. Innovation in medical administration promises streamlined workflows and improved patient satisfaction. Bridging the gap between medical treatment and administration is vital. By collaborating to understand organizational and patient needs, we can better support military readiness with cutting-edge solutions. In medical operations, we frequently depend on models like the 10 Medical Functions across all Roles of Care. The warfighters depend on the 6 Warfighting Functions to ensure continuity across domains. I understand these are simplistic and there are so many more considerations (and models to support them). With that said, none of our systems seem to integrate fully across one service, let alone all DoD services. The military medical system has already paved the way towards integration across services, going "purple". Our administrative systems should as well. What are your thoughts to make this happen?!

From Military.com: Billions of dollars of veterans benefits could be imperiled if the U.S. defaults on its debts, though the full extent of the fallout is uncertain because of the unprecedented nature of a default. About $12 billion in veterans benefits are expected to be paid out June 1 -- the same day the Treasury Department has named as the earliest day a default could happen if Congress doesn't act to avoid it. A default would likely delay those benefits, but for exactly how long would depend on the Treasury's next move after a default, experts who spoke to Military.com said. https://lnkd.in/gT65fNze
