What good leader would resort to mere band-aid solutions for hate crimes in a city like Toronto? Here are some strategies to combat the surge in crime that has seemingly spiraled out of control. Of late, I am embarrassed to call this city my home. Develop a tracking system to monitor various types of crimes by region. Utilize this data to improve training for law enforcement officers. Establish a better ranking system within law enforcement to address different levels of crime by region. Expand the police force with officers who are trained and naturally inclined to be people-oriented, amiable, and psychologically equipped to interact with all kinds of people and cultures—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Adopt a more intimidating stance towards criminals and be less judgmental of law-abiding citizens, irrespective of their race. Impose harsher sentences for hate crimes, vandalism, and violent offenses. Increased police presence is needed. I travel these streets every day and seldom encounter any police officers. Support law enforcement in maintaining control of the streets, ensuring they are not dominated by violent criminals. I could go on but let me stop here....... Good luck Mayor @oliviachow

When we ignore injustice simply because it does not directly affect us, we become complicit in its perpetuation.
