Poverty & homelessness take a toll on the wellbeing of families with children & expecting parents. But cash transfers can alleviate harmful impacts of poverty—we’ve seen this done by the infusion of $ that many families saw under American Rescue Plan’s expanded tax credits. Read ICPH’s blog on how guaranteed income can support expecting parents and families to learn more about unconditional cash as a powerful tool to lift families out of poverty. https://bit.ly/48gTz2j #Homelessness #GuaranteedIncome #FamilyHomelessness

At FJI we work to put an end to homelessness & poverty. We bring cases challenging laws that criminalize poverty and target homeless people, seeking to encourage the funding of affordable housing and appropriate treatment. We also bring cases for victims of housing discrimination. It's Anti-Poverty Week in Australia, which brings an opportunity to better understand the mechanisms and impacts of poverty, and to take collective action to end it. This year Anti-Poverty Week takes the “Valuing Children Initiative” theme to urge Federal Parliament to end child poverty. The 2021 ABS census data on homelessness revealed that 1 in 4 people without homes are children. Co-operative housing allows families to have secure, affordable housing in a supportive community - all of which can help to prevent a transition into homelessness. #cooperativehousing #coop #affordablehousing #antipovertyweek #apw2023 #endpoverty
