This year, we’re celebrating 80 years of being there for Floridians throughout their health care journey. Follow along for the rest of the year as we share milestones in our history and showcase some of the things that make our culture special. It all started when our founders Drs. Ted Arnold and Leigh Robinson brought to life their innovative idea to make quality care accessible to the people of Florida. Our mission to help people and communities achieve better health has been ingrained in our company from the very beginning. We salute our visionary founders for laying the groundwork for what is now Florida’s oldest and largest not-for-profit health solutions company. We’re proud of our heritage and will continue to be there for Floridians for another 80 years and beyond. #FLBlue80 #FlashbackFriday

We're proud to announce a strategic partnership with Sentara Health to enhance our Thrive United 365 program. As the cost of healthcare continues to rise, quality care has become more and more difficult for our ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population to afford. This collaboration underscores our commitment to addressing healthcare disparities in Northern Virginia and improving the quality of life for ALICE families. Sentara’s investment into Thrive United 365 will work to address the social determinants of health among vulnerable communities by providing holistic, place-based, care through trusted community partners. Place-based screening programs will be hosted quarterly, bringing a variety of providers to a convenient and commonly visited community location to provide screenings and preventative care services for chronic conditions most impacting the residents. Service provider referrals will include direct health services, or other essential needs to navigate their situations such as connecting food security programs, financial empowerment programs, or housing support. Join us in creating a healthier, more equitable community. This partnership holds immense significance as we embark on a joint mission to improve lives of individuals with Chronic Kidney disease. The providers and staff at National Kidney Partners has already made a profound impact on countless lives with their dedication and efforts to provide care, education and support to their members. #DuoHealth by joining forces with them aims to amplify this impact and extend the reach to even more members. Despite significant VBC penetration in Florida, tens of thousands of individuals residing there are still experiencing formidable challenges. These challenges present opportunities for collaboration and innovation. Together, we aim to harness these opportunities by combining our collective knowledge, strengths and resources. #togetherwemakeadifference #valuebasedcare #innovation #winwinwin #bestisyettocome #chronicdisease #marketdisruption

Southern Chiefs Organization- Health Transformation: Achieving #Reconciliation: First Nation Health Gathering This was such an informative gathering that discussed so many areas of social services in the healthcare space. There were speakers and attendees from across the province, country, and world. They shared knowledge, personal experiences, and pragmatic paths forward to solve some of the critical health issues Indigenous peoples face. It's important for Canadians to understand the contemporary health crisis and shorter average life expectancy of Indigenous peoples are outcome of colonialism, systemic racism, and an indifference to communities that are suffering while others flourish. What Indigenous communities have experienced is part of the true cost of everyone else's "free" healthcare. The only thing that was missing from the audience was a stronger presence of our healthcare professionals who direct and lead the current provincial/municipal healthcare systems and nonprofits. I saw some people and sincerely want to thank them for attending purely to listen, not to question. If your organization works in healthcare and/or youth services, it's time to change your mindset from an implementer of government services to a partner of Indigenous community solutions. They have the answers, we just need to listen.
FINAL DAY OF SCO’S HEALTH GATHERING We did it! Today closes the Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) “Achieving Reconciliation: First Nations Health Gathering,” which took place in Treaty One Territory, on March 19 and 20, 2024. The gathering was a transformative learning experience with knowledge from far and wide, covering the historical, present, and future vision for Anishnaabe and Dakota health transformation. Got solution for transportation which apparently is highest as per the report.
Research shows #chws are stocked out of essential health supplies 1/3 of the time. That is why together with VillageReach, we are strengthening community health supply chains in #Kenya, ensuring #chws have the right training, skills, digital tools, and supplies: https://lnkd.in/eiNJSSeu

Experienced public health nutrition professional. Passionate advocate for evidence-based nutrition policy and practice.
CHWs are a critical piece in ensuring treatment for #wasting is available to all children who require it. BUT – CHWs must be well trained, supported and supervised, as noted in the recent World Health Organization wasting guidelines. World Vision has supported the assessment of CHW systems using the CHW-AIM tool in over 25 countries. What we’ve learned is that certain health system prerequisites are required for CHW programs to function well. To assess these prerequisites, we developed a tool that we call Health Systems Assessment and Improvement Matrix (S-AIM). Through workshops in Uganda and Kenya, we found that both CHW-AIM and S-AIM together provide comprehensive assessments of the community health/CHW programs. As work gears up to revise National Protocols for management of #wasting and nutritional oedema, let’s be sure to learn from this work, and make use of these tools as we consider the CHW component of these national guidelines. Excellent news very well done.
I’m really happy to update from my last post that Martyn Perkins and I both received an email from Isle of Man Public Health today. Great news that there has been some progress and we are getting closer with the additional legislation’s required and best of all funding has been allocated to take it forward. At this stage no date has been set which is disappointing however I do feel very positive that things are moving in the right direction now. Thank you Public Health Isle of Man for the update.
