In response, GraniteFuel Engineering introduced an innovative Oxygen (O2) injection system, a first-of-its-kind approach within their projects. By injecting O2 into the H2S removal system, the adsorbed H2S was displaced and converted into elemental sulfur, thus extending media life. The modernization of the biogas production plant EGGENERGY continues, with significant progress recently achieved - membranes have just been installed on the digesters responsible for the fermentation process. ▶The latest-generation double-membrane system ensures gas capture and storage capability when needed. ▶ Automated heating networks for digesters, with a total pipe length of almost 6 km, maintain EGGENERGY's temperature stability in Latvia's highly varying weather conditions. State-of-the-art mechanical mixing technologies of the highest quality are utilized in the implementation of the anaerobic fermentation process inside the digesters. ▶ The new hydrolysis tank system is designed with powerful technological solutions ensuring homogeneous mixing and effective hydrolysis in a 24/7/365 regime. By using a biological filter to capture greenhouse gases, the hydrolysis process is made almost 100% CH4 hermetic. ▶ As a safety measure for unforeseen station operation issues, an ATEX-compliant gas flare with a capacity of 3000m3/h has been installed for emergencies. Here is an OMA-300 H2S Analyzer installed at a landfill gas field. This system is ideal for monitoring H2S in both landfill gas and other biogases. This is in part due to the excellent dynamic range of dispersive UV-Vis spectrophotometry which allows the OMA to accurately monitor H2S from trace levels to percent level concentrations. Additionally, the detector has no sensitivity to the typical biogas background components (methane, CO2, moisture) since these chemicals have no absorbance in the UV wavelength range.
