Do not take ciprofloxacin With dairy products such as milk or yogurt or with calcium-containing food. You may eat or drink dairy products and calcium-containing food with a regular meal, but do not use them when taking ciprofloxacin as they could make the medication less effective. Binding or "chelation" of the ciprofloxacin with calcium will result in decreased absorption or bioavailability of ciprofloxacin and potentially increase the risk for treatment failure of the infection. #antibiotics #druginteractions #drugfoodinteraction #pharmacy

One of the biggest misconceptions about antimicrobial resistance is that it occurs when the body becomes resistant to antibiotics. This is not the case - it's the bacteria themselves that develop the resistance and can spread to others and cause infections. On the eve of #WorldAMRAwarenessWeek2023, read about how bacteria become resistant to antibiotics, as explained by our Centre Director Mark Blaskovich. #antibioticresistance #antimicrobialresistance #antimicrobials #waaw2023

Antibiotics serve to treat bacterial infections and should not be used to treat viral infections such as colds, the flu, sore throats, coughs and bronchitis, sinus infections and ear infections. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria is generally caused by the overuse of synthetic antibiotic drugs. Repetitive use of these medicines can kill off the weak bacteria, but can also leave stronger, resistant bacteria to multiply. 15 Natural Antibiotics Courtesy of Mother Nature Garlic Ginger Oil of Oregano Grape fruit extract Echinacea Pau d'Arco Cayenne pepper Olive leaf Extract Tumeric Cabbage Coconut oil Apple Cider Vinegar Fermented foods Myrrh Extract Colloidal Silver Natural is always best, where possible. Of course, if you are very ill and not getting better then you should see a doctor immediately, as you might need synthetic antibiotics. #natural #antibiotic #nature
