At JSC Impact Consulting, we help scale our client’s growth and impact through hybrid organizational structures. One such example is the Food Allergy Institute (FAI): the team at JSC worked with FAI to support their growth plan by helping them form their hybrid structure and a special purpose investment vehicle (SPV), allowing them to access a wider spectrum of capital than is typically availble to a nonprofit or for-profit operating alone. The outcome of our work together is an innovative hybrid organization with profitable commercial activities — all with a share of profits returning to the nonprofit as revenue for its research into therapies for orphan diseases, including cystic fibrosis. Food Allergy Counseling is a therapy niche that continues to grow as more individuals and families express the need for support. Whether it's to help you manage food allergy anxiety, navigate grief, or work through the overwhelm of food allergy parenting, licensed mental health professionals can help. While it's often still beneficial to work with mental health professionals who don't have a deep understanding of food allergies, working with ones that do makes a huge difference. Having a solid understanding of IgE-mediated food allergies and the psychosocial impacts of living with food allergies helps them meet you where you're at and more effectively help you with your therapeutic goals. *** Food allergy in dogs and cats: current perspectives on etiology, diagnosis, and management *** Food allergy is a recognized clinical entity in dogs and cats and is an important differential to consider in the workup of a pruritic animal. Food can be a trigger factor for canine atopic dermatitis, and food allergy may coexist with feline atopic skin syndrome. Other clinical signs such as urticaria, recurrent pyoderma, and dorsolumbar pruritus can be seen in dogs, and urticaria, conjunctivitis, and respiratory signs can be seen in cats. In both species, gastro-intestinal signs may be present. The pathogenesis in dogs and cats is complex and incompletely understood, which limits the development of reliable diagnostic laboratory tests. The diagnosis currently relies on an appropriately performed diet trial with subsequent provocation. This paper briefly reviews food allergies in people and explores our current knowledge of the disorder in dogs and cats. #petfoodingredients #petfood #petshealth #animalsnutrition

Authored by Dr. Gwyn Harris, Dr. Dominic Beirne, and Dr. Kaninika Basu, and reviewed and edited by Dr. Ramya Rajaram and Professor Sumantra Ray, the article presents insights into cutting-edge strategies revolutionising food allergy management From the development of immunotherapy to the exploration of microbiome-modulating agents. Notably, it highlights 'The Fast Allergy Cure,' a psychological intervention showing significant potential in effectively managing food allergies. Through mini-case examples, the article demonstrates the successful application of this approach in treating specific allergies. However, while these novel interventions offer promising results, the article emphasises the importance of rigorous clinical research to establish safety, efficacy, and underlying mechanisms. It advocates for evidence-informed strategies to expand the toolkit for food allergy management. Open Access: β-1,3-glucan, but not β-1,3/1,6-glucan, exacerbates experimental food allergy, while both increase IgA induction First author: Chaoqi He; corresponding author: Masako Toda https://lnkd.in/gGiztPeh   In an ovalbumin-sensitized murine model of food allergy, He et al. investigate the effect of a β-1,3-glucan and a β-1,3/1,6-glucan diet.
