February is #AmericanHeartMonth, which is sponsored by the American Heart Association. Here at Cokebusters USA we were inspired to organize a #FirstAid and #CPRTraining Seminar, facilitated by our #HealthandSafety Manager, Paul Kelleher, CRSP, SMS, EP. During the session, Paul guided our employees through comprehensive training; imparting essential knowledge on proper techniques for chest compressions and rescue breathing. CPR training serves not only to equip individuals with practical life-saving skills, but also to underscore the criticality of swift action and clear communication during emergency scenarios. Safety is always of paramount importance for us here at Cokebusters USA, both at our facilities and out on site. • • • #SafetyFirst #EmergencyPreparedness #SaveLives #TeamTraining #SafetyCulture

CPI are proud to have been carefully selected by UK Pods to research and develop a training package to further enhance the implementation and impact of Safety Pods. Safety Pods can be used as an effective adjunct to primary and secondary trauma sensitive preventative approaches which help eliminate or minimise the use of restraint. Furthermore, our research and development has shown that Safety Pods, when used as a tertiary (re-active) intervention: 1. Provide the safest holding position, mitigating chest compression thereby reducing the risk of respiratory compromise, the #1 risk factor associated with restraint-related adverse outcomes 2. Significantly reduce the duration of restraint, the #2 risk factor associated with restraint-related adverse outcomes In addition, people with lived experience of being restrained told us: 1. Safety Pods feel less threatening and frightening as people can see and speak to staff more easily than floor restraints 2. Safety Pods feel safer because there is no feeling of restricted breathing or being held against something uncomfortable) e.g. the floor) Finally, staff who have used Safety Pods told us: 1. Safety Pods significantly improved their ability to observe and communicate to the person in distress 2. Safety Pods feel ‘less combative’ and enabled them to focus on effective de-escalation which in turn reduces the duration of restraints 3. Safety Pods improve staff safety which in turns means staff can focus on maintaining the Care, Welfare, Safety and Security of the person in distress
🌟 GREAT FEEDBACK 🌟 from Yorkshire Care Group Limited and PBS Centre Of Excellence We’re delighted you’re seeing such positive results since introducing Safety Pods to your setting- incredible work! 👏🏼

As we embark on the new year, our commitment to safety continues, highlighted by the hosting of two impactful Safe Start meetings that prioritize the well-being of our employees. The first session took place on January 3rd at the Pomeroy Conference Centre in Fort St John, BC, establishing a safety focused tone for the year ahead. Subsequently, on January 4th, a second meeting was held in Grande Prairie, AB, specifically tailored for the STRAIT/IDEAL Coating group. This annual Safe Start tradition serves as a pivotal event, delineating and reinforcing our collective dedication to upholding a safe working environment. This year's events proved particularly enriching, featuring distinguished guest speakers who shared invaluable insights. Corey Hirsch discussed the critical topic of mental health with his presentation "The Save of My Life," while Rick Sikora of Crane Masters discussed rigging safety. Additionally, Mohamed Zayani from CWB enlightened attendees on hydrotesting procedures, and George McGhie from Energy Safety Canada offered his perspectives on human and organizational performance. Vance Whitley contributed insights from the apprenticeship trades in Alberta, and Adele Tait from the Government of Alberta OH&S provided crucial information on investigation resolutions. STRAIT/IDEAL Coatings dedication to safety extends beyond mere words, as we embrace a proactive approach to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. Have a Safe Year ! #IDEALCoatings #Safety #Dedication #Commitment #Quality

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, reminding us of the importance of road safety and responsible driving. In 2021 (most recent data) there were 3,522 people killed and an estimated additional 362,415 people injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes involving distracted drivers. As leaders, we prioritize the well-being of our staff and their families. Road safety plays a vital role in protecting our staff and our communities. Distracted driving, including texting, calling, or eating while driving, significantly increases the risk of accidents and injuries. Let’s all commit to maintaining focus on the road, not just for our safety but for the safety of everyone around us. Together, we can make a difference and contribute to reducing the hazards associated with distracted driving. Let's lead by example, promoting a culture of safety and responsibility both within and beyond our organizations!
