Art therapy is valuable form of therapeutic processing. It is a specialized training and education which marries artistry and mental health. The difference between a therapist who uses art vs an art therapist is the ability to interpret the art. We need more art therapists as some individuals have difficulty verbalizing feelings and emotional expression. Art mediums allows for this to occur in a safe way that can be interpreted by a professional who has the skills and credentialing to fully process experiences through art. Consider donating as we need more individuals specialized in Art Therapy in the Mental Health field!

As many of you know, Sojourner House launched a campaign early this year to fund the purchase of our gorgeous new Westminster Street property. This building (pictured below) houses the agency's Drop-In Center, which works to connect survivors of abuse with safe housing, emotional counseling, and life-saving supportive services. The Sojourner House Drop-In Advocacy & Resource Center is one of the only drop-in centers for survivors in the state, making it a vital resource for our community. To support this fundraising effort, the Champlin Foundation issued us a challenge: If we can raise $250,000 towards our capital campaign by 10/31, they'll double it.
