#Thisnotthat “You only get one chance to make a first impression.” That’s more true in our virtual world. Don’t say this: It’s okay if my professional headshot is of me at the pool or night out on the town. Say this: I need to make sure my headshot represents me in a professional way. Don’t say this: This headshot from fifteen years ago still works. Say this: My headshot should be current. Don’t say this: I don’t like the way I look in my headshot, but it’s probably fine. Say this: Select photos that best represent you since you will use it in many places. * * #elizabethkoraca #thespeakinguppodcast #executivebusinesscoach #careercoach #jobinterviewtips #businessmotivation #opportunityknocks #careerstrategies

Photo tip of the Day! Let’s create a holiday card. When capturing those precious family moments, think about the orientation you want for your card. Horizontal or vertical? By planning ahead, you'll make sure your photo fills the frame just as you imagined. Don't forget to leave some extra space at the top or bottom for a heartfelt salutation. Other things to consider when putting together your holiday cards. When choosing a background for your photos, consider avoiding distractions. Opt for simpler and crisper settings that allow the subjects to take center stage. Less can be more! #HolidayCardTips #FamilyMemories #SpreadTheCheer #TipsfromaPhotographer #Familyphotos

Let's consider gifting moments and experiences this holiday season! Here are some ideas. The Gift of Time: Instead of wrapping presents, consider offering your time. Plan a day out, a cozy movie night, or a picnic in the park. Quality time spent together is truly irreplaceable. Experience-Based Presents: Opt for gifts that create memories—concert tickets, cooking classes, or a weekend getaway. These moments become memories to share for years to come. Book a Photoshoot: Capture moments and memories. Whether it's a family photoshoot, a fun session with friends, or a couple's portrait, the photos will be a lasting reminder of the joy shared. Let's make this holiday season about the things that truly matter!

Ever wondered Why Santa is Red? 🎅🏻🎁🎄 The iconic red suit worn by modern-day Santa Claus has become synonymous with the holiday season, yet its origin is often misunderstood. Contrary to popular belief that Coca-Cola was responsible for Santa's signature red attire, the roots of this tradition can be traced back to the 19th-century illustrations of Thomas Nast, a prolific political cartoonist https://lnkd.in/e-mTVNiH. During the 1860s and 1870s, Nast's illustrations portrayed Santa as a plump, bearded man with a jovial demeanour, and notably, he often depicted Santa in a red suit. This marked a departure from earlier representations of Santa, which featured him in various colours such as green, blue, or brown. Nast's illustrations not only captured the public's imagination but also played a pivotal role in shaping the image of Santa Claus that we recognize today. While it is true that Coca-Cola played a significant role in popularizing the modern image of Santa Claus, with their campaigns featuring the jolly, red-robed figure in the 1930s, it is crucial to acknowledge that Nast had already established Santa's red attire decades earlier. Coca-Cola's influence, though impactful, was a continuation rather than the origin of Santa's association with the colour red. The prevailing misconception surrounding Santa's red suit highlights the fascinating phenomenon of how stories, even when not entirely accurate, can quickly take hold in the public consciousness. In this case, the narrative linking Coca-Cola to the creation of Santa's red attire has persisted, overshadowing the earlier contributions of Thomas Nast. Understanding the true origins of Santa's red suit not only enriches our appreciation of Christmas traditions but also serves as a reminder of the enduring power of storytelling in shaping cultural perceptions. Did you Know? The Christmas Tree Tradition 🎄🎁🎄 The use of evergreen trees as a symbol of life and renewal during the winter season predates Christmas itself. However, the Christmas tree tradition became popularized in 16th-century Germany. It was later introduced to England during the Victorian era and eventually spread globally as a central element of Christmas decor. One common challenge our clients mention is being attached to their belongings. When deciding what to keep... Ask yourself 3 questions: 1) Does the item add value to you❓ 2) Have you used or enjoyed the item in the last year❓ 3) Is there another way you can keep the item without keeping the item❓ Example: Photos... Scan all your photos into a drive, that you can have the rest of your life, and even share with other family members. If you really want it, you can always have it printed later. Share your downsizing challenges in the comments below so we can tackle them together!
