🎉 This month, our Del Monte Hellas facility has a lot to celebrate! June not only marks 50 years in operation, but the facility has also reached significant sustainability milestones despite suffering from two major floods less than a year ago. DM Hellas reduced its scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 55% in 2023 compared 2022, and scope 3 emissions by 73% in 2023 compared to 2022. To achieve this incredible reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions, the facility reduced its electricity consumption by installing a new ventilation system in their wastewater treatment facility and replacing all lighting with LED Smart Lighting. DM Hellas also optimized its operational processes to reduce the transportation of raw material and therefore reduce electricity and fuel consumption. To reduce scope 3 emissions, or indirect emissions, the facility generates biogas, an energy alternative to natura, from all fruit waste, residual crops, and more. The waste treatment services are typically purchased from third-party providers, classifying them as an upstream activity in the reporting company's value chain. DM Hellas has a long history of making sustainable decisions and continues to look for opportunities to reduce carbon emissions. Ο Ιούνιος όχι μόνο σηματοδοτεί 50 χρόνια λειτουργίας, αλλά η εγκατάσταση έχει επίσης κατακτήσει σημαντικά ορόσημα βιωσιμότητας, παρά το γεγονός ότι υπέφερε από δύο μεγάλες πλημμύρες πριν από λιγότερο ένα χρόνο. Η DM ΕΛΛΑΣ μείωσε τις εκπομπές αερίων του θερμοκηπίου του πεδίου 1 και 2 κατά 55% το 2023 σε σύγκριση με το 2022 και τις εκπομπές του πεδίου 3 κατά 73% το 2023 σε σύγκριση με το 2022. Για να επιτευχθεί αυτή η απίστευτη μείωση των εκπομπών του πεδίου 1 και 2, η εγκατάσταση μείωσε την κατανάλωση ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας εγκαθιστώντας ένα νέο σύστημα αερισμού στην εγκατάσταση επεξεργασίας λυμάτων και αντικατέστησε όλο τον φωτισμό με LED Smart Lighting. Η DM ΕΛΛΑΣ βελτιστοποίησε επίσης τις λειτουργικές της διαδικασίες για να μειώσει τη μεταφορά της πρώτης ύλης με αποτέλεσμα να μειώσει την κατανάλωση ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας και καυσίμου. Για να μειωθούν οι εκπομπές του πεδίου 3 ή οι έμμεσες εκπομπές, η εγκατάσταση παράγει βιοαέριο, μια εναλλακτική ενέργεια, από όλα τα απόβλητα φρούτων, υπολειμματικές καλλιέργειες και άλλα. Οι υπηρεσίες επεξεργασίας αποβλήτων συνήθως προσφέρονται από τρίτους παρόχους, ταξινομώντας τις ως δραστηριότητα upstream.
