The biggest complaint people have about onboarding for a new job? No clear point of contact for questions. It’s natural when starting a new job to have LOTS of questions — everything from “Where should I park?” to “Who signs off on this or that?” Often, HR teams bombard new employees with so much information in the very beginning that even if you told them whom to call for what, chances are, they won’t remember and will feel quickly overwhelmed with their own questions. One of the best ways to support a new employee is to make it easy for them to ask questions, even designating a specific “buddy” who can make sure they get all their questions answered. Likewise, during the hiring process, people tend to have questions, but at this phase, your best bet is to have a recruiter as your go-between. As one such professional myself for the past 28+ years, I consider it my job to get any candidate’s questions answered quickly without causing a drain on the resources of the client HR teams I’m working with.

Part 2 of streamlining the onboarding procedure for new employees in HR To ensure the success of newly hired employees, it is crucial to offer ongoing support. It can be accomplished by providing chances for professional advancement, skill improvement, and ongoing education. Regular performance reviews can also help pinpoint problem areas and provide enlightening criticism. Additionally, encouraging employees to participate in company-wide events, team-building exercises, and resource groups can help promote a sense of community and belonging within the organization. Conclusion HR professionals need to ensure that new employees have a positive onboarding experience. This can be achieved through pre-boarding activities, a seamless first day, thorough training and orientation, clear communication, and ongoing support. By establishing a solid foundation of organization and structure, the onboarding process can be successful and beneficial for both the organization and the new employees.

What is employee onboarding? Employee onboarding is the process in which new hires get familiar with the organization, the people, and the culture of the company they’ve just joined. It’s a key stage of the employee life cycle. New hires are introduced to an organization and integrated into their new role and responsibilities. They are shown their workspace, given the equipment and resources they need, meet colleagues and managers, get to know work processes, and familiarize themselves with the company’s mission and values. By the end of the onboarding process, they’re able to do their job independently and effectively. The purpose of an onboarding period is two-fold. On the one hand, the traditional goal of employee onboarding is to get new hires operational as quickly as possible. On the other hand, the more recent role of on boarding has been to shape the critical first impressions new employees have of the company. After a successful onboarding, the employee: Is excited about their role and the company Has met their colleagues Has a relationship with their direct manager Has access to all the resources to do their work well Has received the necessary training Will understand their role and work and feel equipped to succeed Will feel at home in the organization Has made a couple of meaningful connections Has clear goals to work toward and has achieved these goals Clearly understands their appraisal criteria In 89% of organizations, employee on boarding is short, lasting less than 3 months. However, truly effective on boarding is a continuous process that can take up to a year until an employee reaches their full performance potential. The simplest way to check if an employee is on boarded well is to check in regularly and ask if they understand their role and what success looks like, have the tools and knowledge to perform, and feel welcome in the organization and engaged at work. If this is not the case, the on boarding process has probably failed. #backgroundcheck #backgroundverificationservices #backgroundscreening #preemploymentverification #employeeonboarding #hroperations #staffingsolutions #backgroundinvestigation #recruitment #talentacquisition #hr #humanresources #employment #backgroundverification #bgv #vendorempanelment Ac

EMPLOYEE ONBOARDING, INBOARDING AND OFFBOARDING Ha! I guess you've not heard of the second or middle terminology - INBOARDING before huh? Hakuna Matata! I call them the 3-BOARDINGS. Now, let's dive in... Employee Onboarding It is the process during which new employees are introduced to their jobs, colleagues and organization. This is where new hires familiarize themselves with the organization, the people and the job. Some call it the workplace honeymoon period. E.g. Orientation, Induction, etc. Employee Inboarding It's an unpopular brother of Onboarding, some call it Second Onboarding. It is an ongoing process that helps EXISTING employees acquire the knowledge, skills, process and training they need to succeed within an organization. Thus, a support given to employees when they change positions, get promoted, move to different location, etc. It focuses on only established or existing employees. Employee Offboarding It is the process during which an employee leaves or parts ways with the people and the organization they worked for in a structured manner. This is an employee smoothly exit or say goodbye. Some call it the workplace Divorcing period. E.g. Exiting interview, etc. I hope you've learned an HR Terminology today? #PeopleDeveloper
