One in three households and businesses in Queensland now generate electricity via rooftop solar. Australia has abundant natural resources, particularly solar, and the Sunshine State is a key example of that. As well as reducing household energy prices, the uptake of solar will boost the local job market. Under the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)’s Step Change scenario (deemed the most likely progression by AEMO for the renewables sector in Australia), Queensland’s clean energy employment averages 16,000 per year until 2040, increasing from 10,000 in 2023 to peak at 22,000 in 2039. #EnergisingQueensland #cleanenergy #rooftopsolar

Queensland continues to solidify its position as a national leader in rooftop solar. Over 830,000 households and businesses are now harnessing the sunshine, generating 5,000 MW of solar capacity. This translates to more than 10% of Queensland's renewable energy mix coming from rooftop solar. This achievement signifies not only cost savings for Queenslanders but also a significant step towards a cleaner energy future. The contribution of rooftop solar is nearly two-thirds the combined capacity of the state's 8 coal-fired power stations, and 3 times more than the state's largest at Gladstone. The momentum is undeniable. With an average of over 150 new rooftop PV systems installed daily, approximately 36% of Queensland homes are now powered by solar. This widespread adoption positions Queensland as a national leader in renewable energy and demonstrates the state's commitment to a sustainable future. 🌞 The Future of Solar in Ireland Shines Bright!   We're thrilled to share some exciting news about the future of solar energy in Ireland. According to the latest data from EirGrid Group and ESB Networks, an impressive 1,358MW or 29.4% of the upcoming batch under ECP-2.4 will be dedicated to solar projects. But that's not all - there's even more potential on the horizon with an additional 541MW of solar-battery hybrid sites in the pipeline. This means that in total, a staggering 41% of the batch could be solar-powered!   The outputs from this this process are paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future. As the regulators consider future connection policy, ensuring offers to connect issue with regularity is key. With 20 GW capacity installed across the country, rooftop solar is leading the renewable energy transition. States like NSW and QLD are setting records and surpassing milestones in rooftop solar installations. The future looks bright with the Federal Government's $1 billion Solar Sunshot program supporting innovation in solar technology. Home batteries are also gaining popularity, with 57,000 units installed in 2023. The call for a national Home Battery Saver Program aims to incentivize more Australians to invest in home batteries. With New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy's recent investments in the Garden State's expanded solar energy deployment, we are excited to announce that Brightcore Energy has been awarded every community solar project submitted to New Jersey's Community Solar Energy Program (CSEP), an initiative signed in August 2023 driving more sustainable energy sources to State and eliminating barriers to local communities' access to affordable, equitable, and clean energy. As one of the States with the fastest-expanding community solar programs, the CSEP was officially launched in November 2023. It hosts a capacity block of 225 MW, attracts over 300 applications and represents over 300 MW. This program initiation followed the success of two solar pilot programs in 2018 and 2020. Brightcore is proud to support the increased renewable deployment in the State and add to its solar market. Once fully operational, the projects awarded to Brightcore will produce over 19,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough electricity to power over 2,600 homes for one year and the equivalent CO2 emissions reduction of burning nearly 15 million pounds of coal. With IRENA research finding that the cost of solar PV globally has dropped by nearly 90% in the last decade and the UK government stating that utility scale solar has fallen in cost by 88% since 2010, it’s a key part of the renewables mix to render fossil fuel-based power economically unviable and speed up the energy transition. In the UK, the fall in solar prices has allowed the subsidy-free market to emerge and large-scale solar sites are now progressing. In June 2023, the government approved the construction of the country's largest solar farm, large enough to power about 60,000 households, on farmland near Chelmsford. Soon Townsville households will be able to share energy, bringing down energy bills and emissions. A Local Renewable Energy Zone (LREZ) will be established in Townsville, to help the community generate more renewable energy, store it and share it locally across the electricity infrastructure that already exists. Working hand-in-hand with Energy Queensland’s local network-connected batteries, the LREZ will allow the benefits of renewable energy to be shared amongst all customers, especially those who haven’t been able to invest in solar power, for one reason or another. The 2024-25 Queensland Budget includes $40 million for the Townsville LREZ pilot project and $240 million to build 18 new local network-connected batteries across the state to unlock energy sharing in Townsville. The projects are a major boost to local manufacturers and suppliers in many communities throughout the state.
