Construction set for Louisiana’s $362M Jimmie Davis Bridge: Construction is set to begin in May on the Jimmie Davis Bridge over Red River between Bossier and Caddo parishes. The $361.7 million project’s purpose is to improve traffic flow and congestion along state Route 511. Louisiana DOT tapped Baton Rouge-based James Construction Group as the general contractor for the design-build project. The project is set to open to traffic by early 2027, with a full completion date in 2028. The work includes a four-lane span built north of the existing two-lane structure. The roadway on each side of the new bridge will widen to accommodate the four lanes of traffic and three new median openings for U-turns. Roadway Closure Alert - Construction begins April 22nd on the Bruce Road Reconstruction Project. The public is advised to expect temporary delays and detours during the 15-18 month construction period. Beginning April 22nd, there will be full road closures at two key sections of the project: (1) Bruce Road immediately south of East 20th Street to approximately 100 yards north of the Skyway, and (2) Bruce Road south of Banner Peak Drive to north of Concord Ave/Picholine Way. While public access will be maintained at key intersections, motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and plan additional travel time to navigate marked detours during construction. The City of Chico recognizes the inconvenience posed by construction activities but assures residents that the long-term benefits of the Bruce Road Reconstruction Project will outweigh temporary disruptions. To stay up-to-date on roadway closures, see the Announcements section at www.chico.ca.us. #ChicoRoadConstruction #MeasureH #CityofChico

VIDEO: Enhancing Faudree Road: Construction Progress and Timeline The ultimate goal of the Faudree Road construction is to expand the roadway from two to five lanes because of the growth in the area, hopefully making it easier for drivers. The hope is that the construction will be complete in the next 18 to 24 months. Here’s a look at the timeline. -They will finish construction from 56th St. To HWY 191 in two to three months. It will make this section of Faudree five lanes. On 56th St., stop signs will be in place until signals are ready; we can expect those to be there for the next four to five months. -The construction will then move to 56th St. to P Bar Ranch Rd. Once construction starts, they expect it to last six to nine months. During these months, they will continue the lane expansion and finish the drainage system. -After completing that section, they will start on the last area, from P Bar Ranch Rd. to Yukon Rd. So far, drivers have been doing a fantastic job and being patient! We continue to ask folks to watch their speed while crews work on the construction. The GOOD NEWS: progress has been going well and faster than expected!

Check out Ural Yal sharing thoughts with NPR about replacing Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge: "The extensive use of easily formed concrete, which is less expensive than steel, is key to the cost equation for cable-stayed bridges, Ural Yal says. With concrete, he says, 'there are opportunities to cast a lot of the pieces off-site while you're building the foundations" of the bridge, thus speeding up construction.'" Many in the construction industry understand the difference between necessary and desirable infrastructure. The cost and duration of a project are driven by the number of people involved in the construction process. Check out this article on The Federalist about Baltimore's new bridge and why it cannot be good, fast, and cheap. #constructionindustry #infrastructure #constructionprocess #costduration #Baltimorebridge #TheFederalist https://lnkd.in/eHGwWVJe

We are in the home stretch on two capital projects: - Denise St. culvert replacement - the culvert is being placed. Contractors are still at least a couple of weeks away from being completely done. Paving will most likely occur next spring, and that's simply because we're running out of time to pave. It is weather dependent. - Crawford Watermain Ext. - final section of watermain is being commissioned and then site clean-up will start. Contractors are still at least a couple of weeks away from being done and out. Paving for this project will not happen until next spring, as planned. Both projects are necessary to upgrade existing infrastructure. With the Crawford watermain extension, we are adding capacity and creating redundancies in the water service for the eastern end of the city. We appreciate your continued patience as we wrap up a busy construction season and start looking ahead at next year's plans. #Timmins #capitalprojects #infrastructure
