Musings: I took a vacation to come work on a farm in Italy. I volunteered here with workaway for the first time 5 years ago, and lucky for me, the family adopted me as a "second mom" and have graciously had me back 3 times since then. Yesterday was a national holiday in Italy, so we did not do the normal 6 am to noon morning harvest. Instead I got to spend the morning running to the river nearby and enjoying the fresh air and sunlight in the orchards until we started lunch prep. The preparation and eating took a total of about 5 hours—absolute heaven for this #foodie. There is something about cooking slowly and eating slowly that makes the food taste better. We made a fire to roast meat and veggies and went to the garden to find the ripest tomatoes for salad and melt-in-your-mouth melon. Everyone had some role in helping to prepare. Eventually we all sat down at a long table, 11 of us in total, to slowly eat. To me, this is what life is about. Sharing food with loved ones. Preparing it with love and care. Connecting with the earth that provides for us. Sharing this to inspire you to add more #slowfood and #sloweating to your life. Being mindful about what and how you consume is one of the best gifts you can give yourself, not only for your physical health, but also for your soul. #mindfulness #mindfuleating #ladolcevita #slowness #foodforthought

Ditch the diet rules this vacation! Without a doubt, one of the best parts of going on vacation is the food. Am sure you will agree that it adds to the adventure of the trip! Hitting up local hot spots is essential to immerse yourself in the surroundings. Vacations are a great time to experiment with new foods that you normally wouldn’t have access to or maybe wouldn’t spend your money on. ~ Eating past fullness will most likely happen as at times you are eating for pleasure and not hunger, and that’s okay! Mindfully enjoy the meal/snack and move on... ~ Add some activity like- going to museums, nature trails, parks, browsing through local shops etc.Idea is to relax, have fun, spend time with your loved ones and have new experiences ! ~ Once you are back home go to the grocery store and buy what you normally buy. At home , cook and eat what you normally eat. No need for any cleanse/ detox/ guilt ! So ditch the diet mentality before you step out for a vacation! Chocolatey Planes The price of cocoa is soaring thanks to poor harvests due to inclement weather! This is pushing up the price of chocolate - prices are up about 17% over the last two years. This upward price trend will continue into 2024. But holidays like valentines day continue to fuel the demand for chocolate; Can the world survive without eating chocolate? Maybe! But will we give up chocolate? NO! Ditto for travel! Planes are full. There seems to be no seasonality any more for travel - revenge travel still seems to be a trend in 2024! Can we give up travel? NOPE! How do you get over high ticket prices? Have a chocolate my friend, it's relaxing ;-) Chocolate planes! #aviation #travel

Perfect #vacation Perfect #home Perfect #clothes Perfect #food Perfect #life Perfect #partner ... Social media has made the mind to seek perfection. But that looks only good on an Instagram post. The truth is we were born to make #mistakes and not to fake perfection. Don't try to be perfect but try to #evolve as much as you can. In real life nothing is perfect. But anything can be made better and better and better with #time. Make a #goal high enough to push you comfort zone and make consistent efforts to achieve it. Just focus on the end result. You may have to take a lot of turns, commit some mistakes but always believe every #action is taking you closer to the end result. When I look at 2023, it was a satisfactory #year in terms of goals I made and the goals I achieved. The ratio is 2:1, i.e. I nearly achieved 50% of my goals. I still have 80 days and will try hard to take this to a higher level.
