🎥 “Believe me, it’s made us much, much more creative.” A Recent Panel at the ATX Television Festival revealed that creatives across the television industry from Cinematographers to Makeup Artists are all beginning to test AI tools. Seth Reed (Production Designer, "For All Mankind") emphasized that AI tools are being integrated into the art department, enhancing capabilities beyond traditional methods like Photoshop. AI adds textures and elements that surpass what concept artists typically achieve. John Lindley (Director of Photography, "Justified: City Primeval") Recalled the initial skepticism around digital cameras and drew parallels with current AI technology. He highlighted that despite technological advancements, human involvement has increased, rather than decreased. Netflix CO-CEO Opines on AI: Ted Sarandos Stated recently that AI will not produce better screenplays or performances than great writers and actors. He views new AI tools just like any other technological shift that has augmented creatives such as

At last week's AI Film Fest Amsterdam the two films that impressed me the most were the only two in their category - Best Hybrid. Two films that were very different from each other ... but two sides of the same coin. "e^(i*π) + 1 = 0" by Junie Lau was fantastic, using AI to show an artist's cartoons come to life and to paint vivid, 3D dream-like shots. Abstract and beautifully weird. A great match for the AI visuals. "The Abyss" by Andres Aloi, on the other hand, imagined a woman in the grip of a virtual reality device that allowed her to relive her dreams and memories. Again, AI-generated footage was the perfect tool - vivid but imperfect, almost like distant memories themselves. At the business end ... my guess is that neither would have come to fruition were it not for the advent of AI, which gifted both films creative - and cost-effective - visual effects (you're not taking someone's job if you could never afford to hire them in the first place!) Ultimately, 3-5 minutes of pure AI-generated footage can be taxing for newcomers (by the end of last Friday, even I was starting to feel queasy!), whereas mixing filmed footage and AI allows AI-generated footage to become a part of the story and helps forgive some of its shortcomings. I'd love to see more of this kind of thing in the coming year. EDIT: Apologies for the glitchy video. Here's some links... e^(i*π) + 1 = 0 (full short film) https://lnkd.in/eXY78YGX The Abyss (trailer): https://lnkd.in/e-gN6Z2q

What will the state of Ai in video and film be in three years? There will be narrative Ai text to video that is consistent in every way necessary to make quality films and video. A film crew will consist of one or two people plus placement/replacement actors (to be replaced by anyone really, do you want to be in the movie?) You can shoot anywhere, with any type of camera, with any kind of lighting, you just have to get the actor’s fill-in basic movement and positioning right. As for Post, it will be smaller crews but there will be some. Maybe one top editor an assistant, they will be fed Ai edited versions based upon types of criteria for the type of film being made. VFX crews so much of the work done now, will be done by Ai, but some Ai generated VFX will need to be cleaned up or replaced. This will be done with a few artists using an Ai assisted VFX toolset. Yes this goes for every position in the pipeline from the modelers, all riggers, and even character animators will be replaced by Ai. Some VFX artists and compositors will remain but the jobs will look different then from today, a lot more clean up and/or replacement. That amount of money needed, the amount of electrical energy needed, it will likely be expensive and out of reach for most people. The amount of money the major studios will make and save will mean that this is coming and there’s no stopping it. What could be done? There’s so much new technologies being developed on the horizon that they need to be brought together for family experiences and entertainment. Some inroads have been made, but development is too slow. We need to innovate and make products people really want including new technology entertainment. Something, somewhere that a person or families can go and experience new technology entertainment as an individual or as a family unit. This is what movies did brought individuals or friends and families out for an experience. I based this assessment on what is being developed by Ai now not what it is capable of doing today, but what are developers of Ai attempting to achieve. I think they will meet these goals in three years or less.

Christopher Nolan's VFX expert marvels at Hollywood's AI advancement. #AIinHollywood Follow us: https://t.me/webappia Summary: AI-art generators like Midjourney and Runway's Gen-2 are impressing visual-effect artists, who believe that AI has the potential to boost productivity and inspire creativity. These tools can create animations with impressive detail and lighting from simple text prompts in minutes. While some artists fear that AI will make it harder for them to find work, others see the technology as an assistant rather than a replacement. AI tools can automate laborious tasks, allowing artists to focus on the creative aspects of their jobs. However, there are concerns about the random nature of AI-generated images and the potential impact on entry-level jobs in the industry. Hashtags: #chatGPT #AIinHollywood #RiseOfSophisticatedImagery

THE IMPACT OF AI ON POST-PRODUCTION PROCESSES AI is transforming post-production processes in several ways, making them faster, more efficient, and more accessible than ever before. According to a report by PwC, AI could contribute up to $15.7 trillion in global GDP by 2030, highlighting the significant impact it can have on the industry. One significant impact of AI is its ability to automate many of the tasks traditionally performed by teams of skilled artists, resulting in reduced time and cost involved in post-production. In a survey of motion graphics artists, 69.5% said they are interested in learning more about how AI can assist in their work. Moreover, AI-generated design is expected to be a $394 million industry by 2023, up from just $46 million in 2018, demonstrating the growing interest in AI in the industry" #ai #postproduction #filmmaking #filmmakers #motiongraphics #footage #storyteller #storytelling https://lnkd.in/dvp7CbJj https://lnkd.in/dvp7CbJj

Co-Creating Digital Products That Delight With Global Brands 🤝 | Speaker, Founder & CEO | Leading POWER SHIFTER Digital & Trove | Serial Entrepreneur | Photographer, Noobie Knife Maker, Leather Crafter & AI Artist 🛸
I don't think GenAI will replace human actors in video production. The new Toys “R” Us commercial, made with Sora by their in-house team, shows why this is a hot topic. 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀 that AI can’t fully match, just like CG. And yes, I am anticipating near photo realism in the future with this statement that I am sure many will make note of. People will still be able to tell the difference between real and synthetic performances, a la uncanny valley. I do think GenAI will be very useful in animation, CGI, and artistic styles and, sadly, will potentially devastate those industries. 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 '𝗔𝗜-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱' 𝗯𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝘄, as Facebook and YouTube require makers to do it already voluntarily. Once this happens, viewers will be 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳 and might think the brand is trying to cut real human talent and actors out of the equation. My thought is that the potential backlash of replacing living, breathing people in advertising with AI characters has not been fully considered yet. What do you think? https://lnkd.in/gT_ZAva2
