This June, I reread an article I wrote last year. Unfortunately, we’ve seen MORE legislative harm and attacks on the LGBTQ+ community over the passing year. It reminded me that the structures we create (in any environment) produce behaviors that serve that structure. As business leaders, we must be very intentional about the structures we create. Are we promoting inclusivity and acceptance? Or are we creating an environment that allows for or excuses exclusivity? The private sector can be a powerful channel to demonstrate what we stand for and demand when legislation fails us. 🏳️🌈 https://lnkd.in/eCTpyYvz

We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates from our LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) as we celebrate Pride Month! Over the past few months, we’ve engaged in meaningful discussions and have several exciting initiatives in the pipeline. Here are some highlights of what we’ve been working on: 🌈 Upcoming Event: Next week, we’re hosting a special event to celebrate Pride Month and allyship in a relaxed and inclusive environment. Stay tuned on LinkedIn for a recap of our celebration! 📋 Policy Improvements: We’re actively discussing ways to enhance Easyfairs’ policies and best practices to better support LGBTQ+ members in the workplace and during hiring processes. 📅 Pride 365 Campaign: Pride isn’t just for June! We’re launching a year-round Pride 365 campaign, focusing on fundraising and supporting charities that uplift our community. 🤝 Allyship Training: We’re researching and developing allyship training to ensure all Easyfairs employees know how to be supportive allies to the queer community. It's World Pride Month....and sorry adding a rainbow to your product is not Allyship - it's marketing. While it's wonderful to see rainbows everywhere, it's important to remember that true allyship goes beyond adding a rainbow to your product or website. Allyship means: ❤️ Listening and Learning: Taking the time to understand the experiences and challenges of the LGBTQ+ community. 💜 Supporting and Empowering: Amplifying LGBTQ+ voices, supporting LGBTQ+ businesses, and advocating for equal rights. 💙 Creating Inclusive Environments: Ensuring your workplace and products are genuinely inclusive and safe for everyone, not just during Pride Month but all year round. 💛 Taking Action: Donating to LGBTQ+ causes, participating in events, and pushing for policies that support the community. Adding a rainbow to your product can be a symbol of support, but without meaningful action, it risks being seen as just another marketing tactic. Let's make this World Pride Month not just about visible support, but about real, impactful allyship. I am an LGBTQ+ ally because it's important to me that everyone, regardless of gender, or sexual orientation, feels safe, respected, and celebrated for who they are. Diversity and Inclusion are not just buzzwords; they're fundamental values we should all champion. What you can do this month to be a better ally: 🌈 Take time to educate yourself on historical challenges and societal impact of the LGBTQ+ community. Understanding hardships and triumphs is crucial to effective allyship. 🌈 Be visible, show your support openly by attending Pride events in your local area or supporting a local LGBTQ+ owned business. Not just in June, but all year round. 🌈 Support an LGBTQ+ Organization with a donation or fundraiser. Egale is an organization in Canada with a mission to: "improve the lives of 2SLGBTQI people in Canada and to enhance the global response to 2SLGBTQI issues." 🌈Amplify LGBTQ+ voices, share a post on your social media, share art or activism, share resources like books and podcasts, be an advocate for their rights and visibility. An ally's role is to amplify, not overshadow.

Celebrating #Pride #Month (post 2) How can we Celebrate Pride Month? 1. we can join local Pride parades, festivals, and events to show support and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. or we can attend virtual events and webinars if in-person participation is not possible. 2. we can educate ourselves and others about LGBTQ+ rights, and issues. 3. we can support LGBTQ+ authors, artists, and creators by consuming and promoting their work. 4. we can support LGBTQ+ Organizations by donating or volunteering. 5. last but not least, we can/should use inclusive language, respect pronouns, and stand against discrimination in all forms. This creates safe and inclusive spaces in your workplace, school, or community for LGBTQ+ individuals.

As we celebrate Pride Month and honour the trailblazers who paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights, let's also commit to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone, every day.
