To finish first, first, you must finish. So many problems in life & in business come from fixating on the short-term. You need to raise the next quarter earnings so you cut staff training, product quality, & customer service. While this may work for fly-by-night business, if you want to deliver great results reliably for decades, you need to think long-term. The Le Man's 24 hour endurance race has been running for 101 years. Ferrari has won many Le Man's races, most recently winning 2 in a row. You don't do that without thinking long-term & delivering consistently. To finish first, first, you must finish.

Classic - the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale! Following up the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 race car from the year before, Alfa Romeo decided to take all that performance and put it in a road car. The 33 Stradale was born. Considered by many to be one of the finest and most balanced cars every built, especially for the time. It sports a 2.0L V8 producing 251hp, with the power routed to the rear wheels via a 6-Speed Speed manual gearbox. It has a 6 second 0-60mph and an advertised top speed of 160mph (though German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport got 156.6mph in their test). Only 18 were made in total, however 5 of them were used to create concept cars from Italian coachbuilders over the years: Italdesign's Alfa Romeo Iguana designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Pininfarina's 1968 Alfa Romeo P33 Roadster, 1969 Alfa Romeo 33/2 Coupe Speciale and 1971 Alfa Romeo Cuneo (built in the same chassis as the P33 Roadster). The eight key changes Ferrari has made to its F1 car for Imola https://lnkd.in/ecXtmQd3 Ferrari used a filming day at Fiorano last week to test out the update package it will deploy at Formula 1's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend. The team did so to ensure it had enough time if there were teething problems for what is quite a substantial change, not only to the aerodynamic performance of the car but also to how the power unit and ancillaries are cooled. A package of this magnitude has taken some time for Ferrari to develop, prepare and manufacture, with the team clearly working around Formula 1's globe-trotting schedule to deliver the updates upon the series' return to Europe. The logic behind this decision will undoubtedly have been driven by the last two races having also been sprint events, leaving only a single practice session at each in which to assess the difference in behaviour and find the right set-up with the new parts for the competitive session (...).

A race car for "gentlemen drivers", love it. Really interesting to see how manufacturers/brands are pushing the limits in terms of accessible performance and marketing product like this with house/mansion worthy price tags 😅 But how confident can they be in this selling and what makes it work? Let me explain... Over a year ago I supported the launch of a high price tag Motorcycle with Crescent Motorcycle Company Ltd, the risk was high with the large price tag, but we were so clear on the buyer that sell out was expected. We sold out in 24 hours... now this is a business built on 75 years of learning about their customer, it made coming up with the marketing and pre order process easy. In conclusion, risk is minimised the more you know your customer and what gets them buying. Ask yourself, how well do you truly know your customer? Are you building your offering and marketing around your needs? Or the needs of your customer? 👀

Why always Ferrari ? Here is why - even though I support many other drivers, teams and talent in Motorsport. ‘Essere Ferrari’ is a philosophy that links the past to the present, projecting a future derived from the company’s traditional values. It’s a design for life with no hidden meanings: as clear as it is meaningful for the many people who live by it every day, in an age when words have often been substituted by ‘messages’ and ‘platforms’ that can be confusing for many.
