There has been a lot of hype about new AI devices recently, but are they really doing more than just making API calls to cloud services? At Golioth, we specialize in connecting microcontrollers to the internet, so we thought we'd see how hard it was to build an approximation of these devices using significantly less expensive hardware. Join Dan and Jonathan to hear about it went, and see a demo of the device live!

Now it has been decreed: Liquid refrigeration is the hot ticket. "Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has confirmed that the next iteration of the company's DGX server family will be liquid cooled" published Data Center Dynamics on March 10th, 2024. "Google Cloud, Meta, and Microsoft are among those that have deployed DGX systems in their data centers. The Next Platform last year estimated that DGX machines represent 20 percent of Nvidia's data center revenues." (DCD) We are reaching the upper range in cooling methods indicated by Vertiv in the graph below.

And now, following up on my post from yesterday... here is the mandatory screenshot :). Running Google's Gemma locally on an iOS device (iPhone 14 Pro) at 22+ tok/s using MLC-LLM, and SLM (#ApacheTVM-based flow). Really fantastic collaboration between OctoAI, Carnegie Mellon University and the MLC community. Special kudos to Ruihang Lai, Junru Shao and team! Hardware portability for LLMs not only enables more efficient use of cloud resources, it also enables new use cases! Now chain that with larger LLMs running on OctoAI cloud and you have a magic cocktail ;). https://lnkd.in/gCjcw3Gn (Android in comment)

T-Mobile's Ultra Capacity 5G (5GUC) can provide download speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbps). This speed is ideal for large-scale data applications like cloud computing and virtual reality. 5GUC uses mid-band and/g mmWave 5G to balance fast speeds with wide coverage. Go ahead and check for the 5GUC icon on your Android or iPhone to see if you're in an area with the fastest speeds. If you don’t see this at the top, then you can now join the fastest and largest 5G network in the country.
