Resilience Redefined: Victoria Beckham’s Journey
Victoria Beckham turns 50 today and I want to take a moment to honor her remarkable resilience.
As a former Spice Girl, solo artist, and successful fashion designer, she has faced numerous rude judgements such as "Expressionless" or "Wannabe Designer".
Some examples highlight her unwavering strength:
From “Posh Spice” to Entrepreneur:
Victoria shed her “Posh Spice” persona and transformed into a respected fashion mogul. Despite initial doubts and criticism, she carved out her own path and built an impressive brand.
Grace Under Fire:
In the public eye, Victoria rarely smiles. Yet, she has weathered storms of criticism and adversity without losing her focus. Her ability to stay composed and determined is truly commendable.
Balancing Family and Career:
Victoria isn’t just a businesswoman; she’s also a devoted mother and wife. Finding equilibrium between family responsibilities and professional pursuits demands immense resilience.
❓ What examples of other celebrities show their resilience? Share it below in the comments - we can learn from each other and draw inspiration!

what does nostalgia look like to you? so many companies are using nostalgia as a trend to sell things; this week, I'm exploring the true nostalgia of Suburb-core, a lewk that's finding itself everywhere from the tights-as-pants #trend at miu miu (and the trickle down to smaller brands) to baby tees and low rise jeans.

“We changed the landscape of Shanghai, forever,” said a Mattel executive in The House Of Barbie Shanghai (2009) documentary. Aside from the fact that it didn’t.
What it left is a cautionary tale for brands who want to make a splash in China.
The 6-story House Of Barbie was a US$30M experiment by Mattel. In addition to the toys, it also had a restaurant, spa, cocktail bar, and a bridal section designed by Vera Wang, and it ceased operation after only two years. (A recent Vice article that explained this well: https://lnkd.in/g9F269xg)
It brings to mind the Chinese slang '自嗨', which half-jokingly suggests that someone is doing something solely to please themselves. In the business context, it can be translated to making self-centered decisions—not based on the target audience and their aspirations—but something done to serve one's own ego.
How does one put a stop to that?
I'd always recommend companies to start with the consumers and identify the group of people for whom they solve pain points. It's the most cost-effective way to operate, and you should keep them in your feedback loop, listening to them at every step.
Do you remember House of Barbie? Or other failed experiments? Do you think the project could make it now?
