🌍 At Gransolar we have offices in 11 countries. A few days ago we asked you about our different centers around the world and most of you got the right answer. Our largest offices are in Spain, in Madrid, Valencia and Almeria, but we also have an important presence in Brisbane (Australia), Houston and Dallas (USA), and Johannesburg (South Africa). This decentralization is critical to be close to our customers, suppliers and our own teams, in order to solve each problem quickly and move forward more efficiently.

…We’re quite perfect right here. – Søren Kringelholt Nielsen, CEO of Svanehøj. Founded in 1928 near Vesterå in central Aalborg, Svanehøj has remained modern and relevant for nearly a century. - Our current success is largely due to the energy transition from fossil fuels to green energy. We produce systems that allow liquid gases to be transported around the world, which require specialized pumps. For an internationally-focused company such as Svanehøj, it's quite logical to have its headquarters in Svenstrup, Aalborg. - Many skilled people are gathered here in North Denmark, and our location is good for recruitment. There are several maritime companies in North Denmark, and we also have Aalborg University for education. - It's easy to get to and from Aalborg, and it's a huge asset for a global company. Therefore, it also makes sense for us to keep a large part of our production and our headquarters here and optimize it with the good framework and many competencies that we have available. Svanehøj reached a turnover of just under a billion last year and was recently sold in a billion-dollar deal to the American industrial giant, ITT, which employs more than 10,000 workers in 35 countries. Passionate Sustainability Advocate | Risk and Impact Assessment | GMAP | Proficient in GRI, TCFD, ESG, UN SDGs | Committed to Championing Sustainable and Resilient Cities
Engaging in the debate between new build and retrofitting unveils layers of complexity that extend beyond mere carbon considerations. While retrofitting may seem advantageous from a carbon reduction standpoint, it's essential to weigh other factors such as structural integrity, retrofitting costs, and the potential impact (+/-) on the environment and people. However, if there is no change to gross plot ratio (GPR) and structural integrity remains intact, they should undoubtedly be given priority. Furthermore, embracing the concept of adaptive reuse and regenerative design in retrofitting projects can yield numerous co-benefits. If the Gross Plot Ratio increases, city population grows, or buildings are susceptible to climate risks such as flooding, and there is limited land availability, then demolition may appear preferable for economic reasons. Nonetheless, conscientious efforts to minimise environmental impact during demolition and construction can help mitigate these effects. Regenerative design goes beyond sustainability by fostering the restoration and enhancement of ecological and social systems*. It aims to create a symbiotic relationship between humans and nature, promoting the evolution of both in a healthy and harmonious manner. Despite its potential, regenerative design is often overlooked. It's time to integrate these principles into our projects, enriching our communities and ecosystems. The debate between new build and retrofitting has always been an exciting topic among my colleagues and sustainability professionals as we explore enhancing developed cities. When we engage in these discussions, we continue to discover new insights, challenge trade-offs, and aim to develop frameworks and guiding principles for better decision-making in the near future. Thank you Wei Qian CHUA for such a timely article Note: Views expressed are solely the author's. In a groundbreaking move, SLA is assessing the feasibility of upgrading 5 heritage State properties to enhance the efficient use of building resources. These properties include the iconic 11 Keppel Hill and 75G and 72 Loewen Road at Dempsey. 🌎 This endeavour goes beyond upgrading the buildings – it’s about building a more sustainable future in Singapore where retrofitting can make an environmentally-friendly impact by extending the lease life of existing properties. 🌱⚡️ SLA is also looking to go one step further by stipulating environmental prerequisites for State property tenders, and integrates energy-saving measures and community-centric green programming into our quality assessments. Our appreciation to Wei Qian from Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报 for shedding light on this step towards advancing Singapore’s national agenda on sustainable development! #AdaptiveReuse #LimitedLandUnlimitedSpace

Best Crisis Communications Leader 2023 by DAVOS Communication Awards WCFA • Crisis Communications member leader at FORBES Communications Council • CEO key7 • PRCA Southeast Europe Network Slovenia Chapter Chair
Last week, on 19.10.2023, the first PRCA Slovenia gathering happened. As PRCA Southeast Europe Network Slovenia Chapter Chair, I've invited to a panel on Infrastructure communication: communicating critical infrastructure in crisis events, my colleagues from abroad, working in the same or similar positions, which are tied up in a straight line and regulated. Together with my dearest Eleonora Albijanic who is also chair of PRCA Montenegro and Head of External Communications Elektroprivreda Montenegro, and Nada Kolega who is Press Officer za Hrvatski operator prijenosnog sustava d.d. (HOPS), we've established a few challenges that we'll have to fight together. One of the biggest is that in our energy industry, people working in public relations cannot shut their phones down, cannot have bad moments or days, and postpone work till tomorrow. We have stressed future challenges and defined similar problems in different cultures or environments. However, the world of energy needs to win these disrupted times and have a solid backbone for systems that need to upgrade, modify, and adjust to the needs of people and nature. Facing hard times that will come, we decided to stay optimistic and fight all uncertainties in our industry. Thank you for supporting our work and commitment to being available for all of you 24/7. We'll keep up the excellent work and continue raising standards in communication and the energy industry.
