XPRIZE has released a report analyzing the Top 100 Teams 🚀, using real data from their Feb 2024 submissions to the Finals of the competition. This data is a helpful benchmark for the industry, as it represents a diverse cohort of “novel” CDR solutions from 25 countries across many pathways. In addition to analyzing real kilotonne project operating data, this report looks at scaling trajectories and projections around building the first megatonne projects, and the larger impacts of scaling to gigatonne. Getting to gigatonne scale carbon removal will be one of the greatest grand challenges humanity has ever faced, and we are just getting started. The Puro Standard is the official partner of XPRIZE to help teams enter the carbon markets, so we are ready to help teams monetize their climate service as they scale. Believe that the time is now for bolder action on climate like James Moore of SunCommon? Join us February 1 in Montpelier. VBSR, Champion Members Seventh Generation and SunCommon, and VPIRG will host the annual Businesses for Climate Action Lobby Day at the Vermont Statehouse on Thursday, February 1 in Montpelier – REGISTER NOW: https://bit.ly/3S2wDym The day will include a morning press conference, coordinated meetings with legislators, climate-focused professional development, and a Networking Meetup at Three Penny Taproom. If you want to make a difference, bringing your voice to the Vermont State House is one of the most impactful things you can do. #VTbiz #VTpoli --------------------------------------- “We believe that business should create positive change and that the time is now for bolder action on climate. I'm here to deliver the positive news. It's working. We actually can and are solving this problem nationally. Approximately a quarter of our electricity now comes from renewable energy resources. That's a big improvement. Regionally, more than a third of our electricity comes from clean, renewable energy. That's fantastic. We've got a long way to go as well. The change is happening and it's picking up speed – and it's time that we invest in what's working and make sure that we accelerate that change. Our question today – and why we are here as business leaders – is ‘What role will Vermonters play? What role will we play in leading that change?’ Vermont has been relying on past accomplishments and standing on the sidelines for too long. When it comes to our new clean electricity development in New England, we are relying on our New England neighbors to do the heavy lifting. That's not the Vermont way. So it's time that Vermont steps up and does our part in supporting new clean electricity here in New England – and provide a real vision and hope for that clean energy future.” – James Moore, CEO, SunCommon (excerpts from 2003 Businesses for Climate Action Lobby Day press conference)
