It's intriguing how we've inadvertently convinced a whole generation that coding becomes a taboo as you ascend the career ladder. I remember feeling puzzled when I started my career and witnessed senior colleagues distancing themselves from the intricacies of coding. Why is the 'VP of Engineering' seemingly detached from the nuts and bolts of the infrastructure? Icons like Sergey Brin eventually moved away from coding, not because it was deemed insignificant, but because their focus shifted to broader responsibilities. However, as they witnessed the challenges faced by their brainchild, they found themselves back in the coding arena, determined to make an impact. The idea that coding is exclusively for junior roles is a misconception that limits the potential of experienced professionals. Sergey's return to coding is a testament to the power and value that hands-on technical expertise brings, regardless of your position. I fine-tuned the Mistral-7B-Instruct-GPTQ model on Google Colab, targeting the finance-alpaca dataset to enhance its financial analysis capabilities.  Employing the Accelerate library enabled distributed training, while PEFT with QLoRA significantly streamlined the model's adaptability without bloating its size or computational demand.  The integration of a 4-bit quantization via GPTQConfig further optimized the model's efficiency, making it more resource-effective. Gradient checkpointing and LoRA's selective parameter updates were pivotal, ensuring an efficient training process with detailed progress logging and evaluation.
