We are thrilled to be working with Central Highlands Water on Stage 2 of the Ballarat Sewer Build. This significant project marks a major upgrade to Ballarat's wastewater network, replacing century-old infrastructure to meet the demands of the city's rapidly expanding community and enhance wastewater management efficiency. This phase of the project has included laying 2km of pipeline, integrating deep excavations, micro tunnelling, trenching, river crossings, and above-ground sections. A key focus has been on respecting Ballarat's rich cultural heritage. We have taken special care near the Yarrowee River and historical landmarks to ensure our work honours and protects these significant sites. This includes a particular focus on the iconic bluestone structures and sites sacred to the Wadawurrung people. Our commitment to environmentally conscious construction has led to several impactful initiatives. We have prioritised recycling trees and vegetation removed during construction, donating them to local organisations like the Ballarat East Men’s Shed and the Ballarat Wildlife Park. Additionally, we've engaged the community in a tree planting day to help rejuvenate the project area. At Diona, enabling communities to thrive through the delivery of essential services is what motivates us. Working alongside Central Highlands Water and the Ballarat community is a privilege. This collaborative effort not only advances critical infrastructure but also strengthens the long-term well-being and sustainability of the region. #sustainableinfrastructure #enablingcommunitiestothrive #essentialservices

Urban Tree Challenge Fund (UTCF)The Urban Tree Challenge Fund (UTCF) was first developed in response to the Government’s commitment to provide millions of pounds for planting both large and small trees in and around England’s towns and cities. The UTCF supports planting of large ‘standard’ trees and street trees – making an immediate impact to communities and ensuring other organisations who provide planting for smaller trees can continue to do so. Round 5 of the fund aims to level-up access to nature across the country, planting trees in socially deprived urban areas with low canopy cover, in proximity to healthcare and educational facilities https://lnkd.in/egNx8Csx

The JK Land Holdings creed. We believe in: ✳ Demonstrating the same care and respect to all communities that we touch as we do across our parent company JK Moving Services and sister company CapRelo. ✳The need for balance between preserving area lands for future generations and commercial development to support area economic growth. ✳Giving back, so we put approximately 44 acres into conservation easement for every 1 acre we develop commercially. ✳Smart development that benefits the area community in terms of jobs and tax revenue. ✳Demonstrating our commitment to the environment by preserving historically and environmentally important sites through conservation easement. ✳Committing time to work with the communities to listen to their wants and needs. ✳Partnering to clean up the environment for the community. #creed #jkloandholdings #northernvirginia

Circular construction is key in our efforts to tackle the energy crisis, volatile material prices, mounting concern for supply security, and depletion of natural resources. ❓ The first step in kicking off circularity in the built environment? 🌟 Accurate and science-backed salvage assessments. Read our post below on why salvage assessments matter and why you should care. #buildcircular
Salvage assessments are a crucial method to ensure resource-efficient demolitions and renovations, and they are shamefully underutilized. Salvage assessments are conducted on an existing building to identify the building materials that are reusable, accessible, and cost-effective to recover during deconstruction. If these materials are identified and a plan to recover them is in place, a construction project occurring where there was an existing building can minimize waste, GHG emissions, and cost. Why Do Salvage Assessments Matter? 1️⃣ Educated Decisions: Salvage assessments allow a building owner to understand and therefore make educated decisions about what materials are worth salvaging from an existing building up for demolition or renovation. Understanding the environmental, time, and cost implications of certain levels of salvage allows a project to accurately plan their deconstruction efforts, in turn avoiding unforeseen delays or costs while ensuring they meet their environmental targets. 2️⃣ Cost Efficiency: Beyond its environmental benefits, salvage assessments make economic sense. Reusing salvaged materials can lead to cost savings for construction projects. Whether it's repurposing timber, bricks, or fixtures, integrating salvaged components can reduce the need for new purchases and lower overall project costs. 3️⃣ Community Engagement: Salvage assessments foster community engagement by creating opportunities for donations or sales of salvaged materials. Local charities, community projects, or individuals may find value in repurposing salvaged items, strengthening community ties and promoting a culture of sustainability. Deconstruction is also a growing field of work which has previously been part of education programs for underprivileged groups, helping these groups move out of poverty. ⭕ In the ever-evolving landscape of a #circulareconomy, salvage assessments will become a cornerstone. 🏗️ Salvage assessments and subsequent deconstruction are a forward-thinking approach to building demolition that not only reduce waste and environmental impact but also align with cost-effective and community-engaged business goals. ♻️ By conducting salvage assessments and determining optimal levels of deconstruction for their projects, we can pave the way for a more responsible and resource-efficient construction industry. #buildcircular #constructionmanagement #netzero #wastemanagement #climateaction #decarbonization #circularity #builtenvironment

Why It Matters:
EXCITING NEWS: Horch Roofing is excited to announce the launch of its latest community-focused project, the "Rainbow Initiative." This initiative, which has been in development for the past few months, aims to provide a free roof to a deserving member of the community. The Rainbow Initiative is now live on the Horch Roofing website, with submissions open to individuals and organizations in need. After the submission period concludes, a careful selection process will take place, involving a company-wide vote to determine the most deserving recipient and project that aligns with the established criteria. Reflecting on past successes, such as the completion of the Oceanside Concession stand, and our involvement with Habitat for Humanity, Horch Roofing is eager to extend a helping hand to another individual or organization in need. To learn more about the Rainbow Initiative and how to submit a nomination please visit https://ow.ly/yfi850R6GF7 and watch the informational video. Please share and help us find the most deserving candidate for our FREE ROOF this year.
