Is your business Secure by Design (SbD) compliant? The UK Government has introduced Secure by Design (SbD) to protect UK businesses and citizens from the threats posed by poorly secured networks. As of 29th April 2024, businesses involved either directly, or via supply chains, will be expected to be compliant with the Secure by Design (SbD) principles. The ever-increasing cyber threat to UK Government Departments will see further scrutiny placed upon services providers and their extended supply chains. Ensure that you understand Secure by Design (SbD) and what it means to your organisation. https://lnkd.in/e5WKnzX2 For more information about the services we provide, and how Pera Prometheus Consulting Ltd can support your businesses security needs, you can visit our website https://lnkd.in/dprt4srz Alternatively, email Gareth Shaw, CISM, CISSP at gareth.shaw@pera-prometheus.com #cybersecurity #infosec #riskmanagement #informationsecurity #itsecurity #cybersecurityawareness #securityconsultant #consultingservices #digitalfuture #introducing #peraprometheus #securitysolutions #sbd #securebydesign #compliance #ukbusinesssecurity

Preparing for the NIS2 Directive: The EU’s NIS Directive (Directive on security of network and information systems) was established to create a higher level of cybersecurity and resilience within organizations across the member states. It was updated in January 2023 to bring more organizations into scope. Companies – including those not used to operating in such stringent regulatory environments – are now under pressure to establish compliance by 17 October 2024 or risk substantial financial penalties in the event of … More → The post Preparing for the NIS2 Directive appeared first on Help Net Security. @Poseidon-US #HelpNetSecurity #Cybersecurity

2024 will be a year of preparations for the #nis2 directive. 📆 By mid-October, every EU State will have its own adopted cybersecurity act implementing the provisions of the NIS2. The ultimate goal of all these efforts is to leverage common cybersecurity to a higher level and limit the impact of cyber-crime. Regardless of the directive, what is the ultimate approach contributing to better cybersecurity in the long run? 1️⃣ Admit that you are vulnerable and accept the fact that every organisation can be hacked. 2️⃣ Test your environment on different levels to identify and assess the risks. 3️⃣ Take steps to mitigate the identified risks by implementing reasonable measures. 4️⃣ Re-test the implemented changes to validate their security. 5️⃣ Periodically repeat tasks from 2 to 4. These basic steps can significantly change every organisation's security posture. However, mutual monitoring of organisations within a supply chain with advanced solutions can contribute to a higher common level of cybersecurity on an international scale. The NIS2 directive takes cybersecurity out of individual organizational nests, and makes it a joint community asset with enormous value. It points out that sharing the information about cyber-risks and caring for (i.e. monitoring) one another's security scorecard is our superpower in fighting cyber criminals. #carbonsec

The standards defense contractors must adhere to maintain cyber compliance and protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) are a living thing, constantly changing to suit the changing needs of the defense industry and the shifting cyber landscape. Yesterday, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published two revised standards for protecting CUI in nonfederal systems and organizations and assessing security requirements for CUI: Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems and Organizations: https://bit.ly/3yisbEm Assessing Security Requirements for Controlled Unclassified Information: https://bit.ly/4bGfwJw These updated standards are likely to affect how organizations across the defense industry supply chain, including contractors, maintain cyber compliance and remain competitive in the industry.
