Circa500 exit alongside Rize and Tabula proves my point that new entrants who dont control Day 1 AUM will always struggle to get to scale if they set up their own infrastructure. These types of business set up all the time in the US #ETF market will nearly always use a white label or share infrastructure like a multi series trust. I don't think it's a negative for the European market it just shows how you need a variable cost model instead of fixed costs which should give a longer runway. https://lnkd.in/evFqeg43

Just read this interesting article by Tom Eckett & comments from Monika Calay. Basically #ETFs arent suitable for concentrated portfolios where their maybe capacity constraints such as small cap equities.. The ETF market always tackles such issues and finds solutions. The article seems to suggest you need to cease creations & redemptions when at capacity & then effectively you have a close ended fund. At HANetf we get 100s of enquiries for people looking to do weird & wonderful things in the ETF wrapper & this issue has come up multiple times. I think the fix is relatively straightforward you temporarily halt creations & continue with redemptions. Then open up creations when you have more capacity available either from redemptions or market changes. Good communications with the market markers & APs will ensure the ETF will trade efficiently https://lnkd.in/dAZ3bd2A

Astoria is much more constructive on markets in 2024 than the past two years. Why? 1) We are out of the earnings recession 2) Inflation is falling 3) We are transitioning from rate hikes to potential rate cuts 4) Economy proved to be stronger than most anticipated 5) Valuations (outside of the Mag 7) are reasonable Investors poured trillions into money market/T-bills last year. That money will eventually come off the sidelines. You simply do not build wealth by owning T bills. There are plenty of opportunities in corporate credit, spread products, US and international equities.
