Madame President of Love of Good | Creating connections for change | Content for a cause. Platforms with purpose. Social media for social impact. | Revolutionizing marketing with purpose-driven strategies
"Let's bring some Big D energy to the pod recording tomorrow." And so we did, or rather E.L.F. BEAUTY did with their incredibly brilliant "so many dicks" campaign which we can't seem to get enough of - plus Billie Jean King are you kidding me?! It's gold. So is the "12 hour period road trip" from Thinx Inc., which feels like it could be hit or miss and they knocked it out of the park. Two comedians, both on their periods, take a road trip to test out a new 12 hour product...the buddy comedy writes itself, and the shenanigans stay true to form. On this episode of Missed Opportunities for Good, we also dive deep into two campaigns from Rent The Runway and L'Oréal that just missed the mark, sadly not for a lack of trying but for the amount of confidence (or lack thereof) that most women feel in and about their careers. And not so ironically, if these companies had understood the idea that women want to support OTHER women in amplifying their careers, the participation rate would have most likely been higher. This one hit home. Hard. And in an effort to combat my own shame around my career - shame is a demon I have fought hard against in my personal and professional life - I announced on this episode, that I would write a post about what I'm proud of in order to prove that women can toot their own "self serving" professional horns and celebrate our career wins when we want to...so stay tuned for that soon ;) In the meantime, please listen, share, and write a review for Missed Opportunities for Good wherever you listen to podcasts. It really REALLY helps us spread the gospel and revolutionize the industry we love. Episode 21 is live! Listen NOW ---> https://lnkd.in/gRMTMahe
Part 2 of our 2-part episode of Missed Opportunities of Good is LIVE now! Join co-hosts Steph Belsky and Alana (Mitnick) Ficalora for our 21st episode where we analyze trends and campaigns at the intersection of #marketing, #advertising, and #impact. In celebration of ONE YEAR of transformative conversations, we explore how brands like E.L.F. BEAUTY, L'Oréal, Rent The Runway, and Thinx Inc. are challenging norms and driving meaningful social change for women and other under-recognized folks. Why is it that women-focused and/or #womenowned brands are more likely to give back and take a stand on social issues? In Part 2, we dive into campaigns addressing the need for more diversity in the board room, women's confidence - or lack thereof - and menstruation. This 2 part episode features insights on how women are portrayed - and often misunderstood - by the industry and showcases the hits and misses of campaigns that have the potential to actually make a difference. The beauty of reinvention is that we figure it out as we go. 😊 That's what Barb Nangle is doing. We awaken to the lessons we need to learn like more self-care. No rules. No timelines. Just us figuring it out on our terms. I love seeing what this looks like in action because how else will we know it’s okay to stumble and then get back on track? How else can we see what it looks like when something we try doesn’t work out but leads to an even better outcome? I love my Reinvention Rebels - the bold midlife women I interview - because they are leaning in, figuring it out and sharing the ups and downs. They are real. They are authentic. They are Rebels, pushing against what society says midlife women should do and be and creating their own unique path. In my mini-series, Where Are They Now, I’ve invited four of my season 1 Rebels to share what’s unfolded since our initial conversation three years ago and it’s A LOT. So many self-discoveries, aha moments and pure joy as they’ve reinvented. I can’t wait for you to listen to their stories and see what a reinvention journey truly looks like! Barb, my first ever guest, has so much to say in this catch-up conversation. She inspires and she’s doing the dang thing in beautiful ways. 👏🏽👏🏽 From podcast host to boundaries coach, her ability to look within has helped her move forward in ways that light her up and are in service of others. You will love this episode! In the rush to innovate and revolutionize, how often do we pause to consider the broader implications of our creations? This week on The Innovation Storytellers Show, Amy J. We’re thrilled to kick off season two of the #GutsiestBrands podcast with a truly inspiring conversation with Attica Alexis Jaques, former Head of Global Brand Marketing for Consumer Apps at Google. Attica joins Toluna to discuss how including #diverseperspectives can help build a successful and lasting brand, how people are the center of everything, and how the beauty industry has set the standard for #diversity, #equity, and #inclusion. "You may have a lot of intersectionality, but you have to bring more people to the table that have a diverse perspective. . . Make the table bigger. You don't have to be the one and only if you do identify with an underrepresented group, and we can all win when we do that.” 🎧 Listen in to discover: • The benefits of chasing your dreams to learn and grow • How to learn with your community and consumers • The importance of not just listening, but applying your learnings and taking action • Recognizing when diverse perspectives are missing 🔗 Listen to the full episode.
