Empowering Orthopedic Innovations || Entrepreneur & Seasoned Medical Device Leader | Founder of Dynamic Health Alliance | Transforming Patient Care through Excellence in Sales and Service
This is how you stand out and land the job in med device. It’s really this simple. It starts with clarity and due diligence. 👇👇👇 It’s a given you should prepare for the interview by researching the company, the role, the product. It’s a given you should be prepared to answer the “why you” question and the “what’s a time you faced adversity and how did you overcome it question”…these thoughts are not new nor debated. You must be prepared and know these things just to be in the arena playing the game. The better question is how do you stand out in a crowd of applicants? How do you get noticed? The answer…is actually quiet simple. Clarity. It’s my experience that most applicants apply to med device roles with only half their heart in it. Why? Because they lack clarity on the industry. They say vague statements like “medical device has always intrigued me” or “a friend of mine does it” or “I heard you can make good money”. What if you had clarity in the industry. I mean complete clarity—every question you have answered so you can make an informed decision…a decision from a place of strength. So when you’re asked “why xyz company and why this role?” You can answer… “Well med device has always interested me. But before I just applied to every role I saw like so many do, I wanted to do my due diligence. I didn’t just want a foot in the door role. I wanted the right role, on the right team, with the right company. I knew this would be the only way I’d reach my personal and professional goals. So, I reached out to industry professionals, talked to territory managers, senior reps, and associates to grasp a true understanding of the role from different areas of experience. I talked with spine reps and ortho reps. I considered Pharma and surgical sales. You can say I thoroughly vetted the industry. And ultimately I concluded that working for your company in this role is the exact position and territory where I want to place all my ambition and drive. When I saw this opportunity come up you can bet I knew I was ready for it.” Getting into med device isn’t hard. You just actually have to want it bad enough and that can’t happen without clarity. #medicaldevice #sales #careerdevelopment #askmeanything

If you were to ask me for my opinion, who are the best in the SCS business.... My answer would be Saluda Medical This is due to the following factors.... 🧠 Product.... Their EVOKE SCS closed loop system is one of the most innovative neuromodulation systems ever seen that is driven by science and proven clinical results that is changing the way patients with #chronicpain are treated. 🤝 People/Culture.... They invest in their people and work together as a team. Since I started working with them 6 years ago, one of the main reasons why people decided to join and are still there today is due to their inclusive and dynamic team that Tim Palmer, Sander van Geel, Holger Krauss, Daniel Hartley Celine Neutens Rene Kraaiveld and Lucy Brister have worked incredibly hard to create. 📈 Growth Opportunity.... 70% of the hires I have made have been promoted and taken on additional responsibility to help grow their careers and support the needs of the EU business. Below is snapshot of some of the positions I have had the pleasure of appointing for them.... and we are still looking to hire more throughout Europe. 🚀 🚀 🚀 Please get in touch to learn more about what a career could look like for you at #SaludaMedical #neuromodulation #recruitmentpartner #chronicpain #painmanagement #spinalcordstimulation #europe #hiring #teamwork #innovation #SCS #vidaconnectedspecialists

Senior Strategy & Transformation Executive - Program Leadership | R&D | Change Management | Data Analysis | Business Transformation | Budget Planning
Drive your Own Development was last week's Merck Healthcare Development Week 2023 topic. The Friday sessions had the motto "Bringing it to Action." Having moved cross-functional within Healthcare R&D (Clinical Development, Medical Innovation, Clinical Operations, R&D Strategy) as well as cross-functional from R&D to Corporate Communications (and back to R&D), I was happy to join the panel discussion with my colleagues (Elisabeth Guitart; Emine Yurdusever Temizkan; Emre Ozcan, PhD; Yariv H.) and share my insights. From those moves, I have learned that FOCUS drives your development, and the ability to learn continuously is a crucial enabler for progressing toward career goals. Focus: Know yourself & be explicit about your goals It's best to be clear about your long-term career goals and personal areas of strength and formulate this in conversations with your manager and your network. Focus: Manage your network actively. Networks are a great source of opportunities, but they require active management not only when looking for a change but also for continuous bi-directional sharing of insights. Focus: In your storytelling on your achievements. Moving cross-functional is about transversal skills, enriching the target organization with a diverse background while continuing to create a positive impact. Gear your storytelling toward the results you have been able to make. Moving cross-functional will move you out of your comfort zone, requiring you to stretch and providing outstanding learning opportunities. This comes with a certain level of risk, requiring active management on your and your manager's site.

Acclaimed journalists ranging from the Wall Street Journal to the New York Times to the Washington Post will all tell you that you need to grab the reader’s attention within the first 2 sentences of an article…or the reader will move on. Similar trains of thought: “Come out guns blazing” or “Come out the gate swinging”. They all mean the same thing. What does this have to do with you recruiting you may be saying to yourself… For those of you who insist on having a mission statement on the top of your resume…please don’t bore hiring managers with a bunch of MBA jargon that has no meaning to them. Give them something which will immediately grab their attention and drive their interest in learning more about YOU. Example of what not to do: Results-oriented individual, team player who goes the extra mile to achieve company goals. (Ugh…tells them nothing about you) vs 15-year R&D manager (comfortable with both NPD and sustaining) who has launched 8 product lines across a variety of medical device segments (catheters, orthopedics and IVDs), managed teams of 100+ professionals and was responsible for delivering $900MM in topline growth across multiple continents (North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific). The latter sentence tells the hiring manager who, what, where and how. The “why” comes later during an initial phonescreen. Put yourself in the shoes of the hiring manager…and get them interested instead of boring them to tears.
