Nursing homes and the long-term care sector have seen a significant drop in employment since the pandemic. According to Ziegler Data, between 2023 and 2033, there will be an increase in individuals 75 and older by 11.7 million. With the lower employment numbers and higher patient demand, the need for long-term care workers is higher than ever. 👍👍 Some 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 in healthcare hiring. 🏥📈 Growth is UP: Hospital employment specifically is 2.1 percent above its pre-pandemic level, and ambulatory care setting employment is 7.8 percent higher. Providence experienced a record year for hiring, filling 33,000 positions so far this year, about 19,000 of which were filled by external candidates. This represents a 15 percent increase in total fills and a 23 percent increase in external hires compared with 2022. Providence has also seen close to a 20 percent increase in retention. The 33,000 positions filled are largely registered nurses and other nursing roles, such as certified nurse assistants. Kaiser has hired more than 50,000 front-line employees in the last two years and plans to add another 10,000 by the end of this fall. 👇 The bottom line: Clinical and nonclinical staffing shortages are likely to persist, but this hiring growth is positive to help address burnout for caregivers, and improve access and care for patients. #healthcare #hospitals #hiring Source: Becker's Hospital Report
