Local toy drives have a special place in our hearts because they directly impact the lives of children in our very own community. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can make a world of difference to a child who may otherwise go without a gift during the holidays. By donating to local drives, you're not only spreading joy but also fostering a sense of togetherness and compassion.
Where can you donate?
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of RI: This local organization collects clothing and soft fabrics for children in need and distributes them to families within the community. You can donate to their bins at the VFW as well as the Cup Defenders on Wood St.
Bristol Police Department: They often host a holiday toy drive, and donations can be dropped off at their headquarters.
Local Churches: Many churches in Bristol actively participate in toy drives during the holiday season. Check with your local parish to see if they have a collection.
Schools and Community Centers: Keep an eye out for toy collection bins at your local schools or community centers.
If we can become aware of others and what the community is hosting this holiday season, one purchase, one drive, one thought can directly impact someone else this holiday season for the better.

Any business owners willing to donate an item to the Shine Bright for Children Gala, which benefits the @cacfingerlakes?
The CACFL supports child abuse survivors and your donation would help provide them with advocacy, forensic interviews, comfort care items, bedding and more.
You'd help some of the most vulnerable kids in the community AND we would promote your business! You could gain exposure to hundreds of potential new clients/customers.
It's truly a win-win.
So, if you sell something, consider donating an item or a basket of items. If you provide a service, consider providing a session of that service.
Who wants to help kids?

One of the important ways community banks distinguish themselves from their large bank competitors is through customer engagement in their community activities. Years ago, in discussing our community giving budget, a CEO opined that our community donations budget really didn't belong to the bank. It belonged to our customers and our community. We were merely holding onto to the money until we decided where best to donate each year. The opportunity, we realized, was that if it was truly our customers' money, we needed to find a way to engage our customers in where "their money" went. We partnered with A World For Good (https://lnkd.in/ermhZpMc), to invite our customers' input on where to donate. It fundamentally changed our perspective and immediately boosted online engagement as well as brand differentiation. It was another important strategy in demonstrating to our market, why community banking is a better option than big banking.
As a part of ICBA’s commitment to making a positive difference in our community, we joined the DC Association community and Soles4Souls for the Soles4theDistrict campaign to raise awareness and money to help homeless children in DC get a new pair of shoes at the start of the school year. We raised a total of $6,380 for Soles 4 the district, and were one of the top 10 associations in terms of amount raised for this cause. ICBA employees will be handing out the shoes at a local elementary school in DC on September 22nd.
Let's make a difference together!

The cost of our collective disregard for the broken judicial system we as a nation have created is generational and for many now a legacy not of their own choosing. This is NOT OK and there will be a reckoning. More staggering than the generations of influence and family involvement lost is the potential taken from the children, wives, husbands, families, communities, our nation. Our judicial system is one of the swift plea deal with zero accountability of the repercussions.
As a Deputy, I was required to read Miranda Rights during the arrest of a suspected violator of the law. However, plea deals are often pursued without any education to the suspected violator of what taking that plea means and what it may cost them in the long run. This process may save resources when dealing with guilty parties and provide prosecutors with much needed tools. However, when a scared teen, young adult, or any other ignorant member or community is faced with a quick “solution” for a minor offence or the perception of a means to get rid of situation of wrong place wrong time, understanding the cost of taking a plea is vital. Will they be able to get a job? Apply for affordable housing? Get scholarships? Join the military? Vote? Remember, being arrested, taken to jail, then pleading out does NOT equal #guilt or #justice!
There are different numbers depending on what you read though all the numbers I have read are north of #95% of guilty verdicts in our judicial system are #plea deals. #Innocent until proven guilty has been completely lost in this process.

I could not let the day go by without letting you know that today is Wrongful Conviction Day. Believe it or not, there are people in prison that have not committed any crime.
On this day, I wanted to raise awareness that wrongful convictions happen. Please show up for Jury Service. We need everyday people to bring our cases before.
Please consider donating or volunteering for the Innocence Project. Every donation and time commitment helps to protect our clients and the community.

We know that reaching out for donations is no walk in the park… here are our Top Tips for getting suppawt and having fun while fundraising!
1. Get the ball rolling by donating to yourself – get tails wagging and show others how much you believe in what you’re doing.
2. Bring out the big barks – tell your friends, family and workmates about your challenge. Share it on social media, send an email, or bark it from the rooftops!
3. Share the puppy love – share a link to your fundraising page, explain what you’re doing, and suggest how their donation will help. For example, $55 will pay for a rainbow cane to help children with low vision or blindness get around safely.
It costs over $50,000 to breed, raise and train a Guide Dog, so every dollar you raise makes a difference.

As many of you know, Sojourner House launched a campaign early this year to fund the purchase of our gorgeous new Westminster Street property. This building (pictured below) houses the agency's Drop-In Center, which works to connect survivors of abuse with safe housing, emotional counseling, and life-saving supportive services.
The Sojourner House Drop-In Advocacy & Resource Center is one of the only drop-in centers for survivors in the state, making it a vital resource for our community.
To support this fundraising effort, the Champlin Foundation issued us a challenge: If we can raise $250,000 towards our capital campaign by 10/31, they'll double it. This gift would go a long way in helping us reach our goal, but the deadline is tomorrow and we still have money to raise. Can you help us meet the match?
