Excited to share that I have recently obtained a new certification in GIS Techniques for M&E of HIV/AIDS and Related Programs from Global Health and eLearning Center. The course covered a range of topics: 1. Define the meaning of GIS and identify some common uses of a GIS. 2. Identify the five components of a GIS: hardware, software, geographically-referenced data, procedures, and people (both users and technical staff). 3. Identify the six primary functions of a GIS: collect, store, query, analyze, display, and output geographic data. 4. Describe two examples of how a GIS can be used for monitoring and evaluating an HIV/AIDS program. 5. Describe a situation in which GIS data can be linked to facilitate program integration. #GIS #HIVAIDS #GlobalHealth #Certification #environmentalconsulting

Photographic evidence obtained by conservative legal group Judicial Watch has revealed the unsanitary and unsafe conditions of an illicit Chinese-operated laboratory in California where dangerous research on genetically modified mice with COVID-19 was conducted. Records obtained through a public records request show alarming safety violations at two locations in Fresno County between 2020 and 2023. The lab, operated by Chinese nationals through Prestige BioTech, had hazardous materials stored on its premises, and images from abatement warrants depict filthy cages housing 951 mice, with 178 already dead. The mice displayed aggressive behavior such as cannibalism and barbering. The lab also stored several infectious diseases improperly, including HIV, chlamydia, and SARS-CoV-2. Investigations by the FBI and FDA are ongoing, and the revelations have led to a House panel convening a hearing on biosafety and biosecurity standards. Judicial Watch has also found substantial Pentagon funding for research in Ukrainian laboratories. #FederalBureauOfInvestigation #BillClinton #FoodAndDrugAdministration #DickCheney #JudicialWatch #PrestigeRecords #Halliburton #ChristopherAWray #CaliforniaDepartmentOfPublicHealth #FresnoCounty #California #BradWenstrup #Reedley #California #UnitedStatesHouseOfRepresentatives #ThePentagon #California #XavierBecerra #UnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgency #Wuhan #HillaryClinton #China #UnitedStates #TomFitton #WuhanInstituteOfVirology #CentersForDiseaseControlAndPrevention #Nevada #Ukraine

SCALE-IT- SCALING UP CAPACITY TO SUPPORT CONDUCT OF CLINICAL TRIALS IN THE EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY The East African Community (EAC) has experienced significant increase in volume and complexity of clinical research driven by epidemics of emerging and remerging infectious diseases such as HIV, Ebola and COVID-19, requiring expertise in scientific and ethical review and conduct of research and a robust and pragmatic research regulatory framework. Goal: The overall goal is to strengthen scientific and ethics capacity in EAC for high quality research review, conduct and oversight, at international standards. The specific objectives are: 1. To train NRRA personnel, REC members, researchers and clinicians on scientific and ethics review and conduct of research with emerging and complex study designs including adaptive platform trials 2. To train NRRA personnel and REC members on oversight, monitoring and pharmacovigilance of clinical trials 3. To train NRRA personnel, REC and research administrators on personal effectiveness and leadership skills (PELS) to manage the increasingly complex research processes. SCALE-IT is being implemented within a partnership of Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), Uganda, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) EPICENTRE ,France (EU partner), Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Kenya and partners from the 6 EAC states, with East Africann Health Research Commission, EAHRC @EAHRC_eahealth as the nucleus for coordination and dissemination of results. #ethics #scaleit #research

The Technical Assistance Needs Assessment (TANA) assesses the technical assistance required to create plans and cost them effectively. This assessment is crucial because it helps identify where #technical assistance can be most beneficial, especially in complex #programmes where it may be unclear. The scope of TANA is broad, covering all areas where technical assistance is available. It helps providers understand the subcomponents of the HIV implementation plan and assess programme elements, supportive elements, policy, and the environment. It involves interviews and field visits to gain an understanding of the agencies involved. Learn more about TANA and how they ensure that you're making the most of your resources and helping to create lasting positive change: bit.ly/CMS-LA

🚨Publication alert! My new chapter, 'British Quarantine and Telegraph Stations in the Persian Gulf, 1864–1928: Governing Through Contagion, Entanglements and Enclaves', in the excellent open access collected volume, Contagion, Technology, and Law at the Limits, is out now! This open access book explores law, politics, and inequality in fights against infectious diseases. Guided by a theoretical framework called “governing through contagion”, the studies in this book analyse how past and present governments have tried to combat contagious diseases, such as the bubonic plague, cholera, HIV/AIDS, and COVID-19. https://lnkd.in/eTVTqzrh
