🌟 Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week! 🌟 FSB Insurance Service team member, Jamie, spills the tea on his apprenticeship in 10 Qs! ☕ This National Apprenticeship Week, we recognise Jamie Jotangia, our outstanding Commercial Insurance Advisor, for his dedication and achievements in the field. Jamie's journey showcases the value of apprenticeships, combining practical learning with real-world experience. His commitment to growth and excellence sets a stellar example for aspiring professionals everywhere. Why did you choose an apprenticeship? It allowed me to learn and develop my insurance knowledge while being able to apply that knowledge in my role as a Commercial Insurance Advisor. How has the apprenticeship helped you academically and practically? I have gained a fantastic qualification while working. It has given me the tools to balance work and studying. What made the apprenticeship a natural fit for you? I was able to study and learn while working. Having worked since I was 17 and not go uni. How has the apprenticeship influenced your career path? To show me the paths available and fine tune what I want to achieve in the next 5-10 years. In what ways has the apprenticeship expanded your options beyond traditional trades? My apprenticeship has exposed me to a diverse range of roles and opportunities within the commercial insurance sector. This has not only expanded my skill set but also opened doors to various career paths and advancement possibilities that I may not have considered otherwise. How has your team supported you during the apprenticeship? Have been amazing support and still supporting. Guiding me through work and balancing that with the studies . What differences do you find between academic learning and hands-on experience in your apprenticeship? Its good to have those study days and getting that theory aspect in, however being a kinaesthetic learner I have learnt most of the apprenticeship while working in my role and wished I was able to work 5 days. What do you consider the pros of an apprenticeship? It is a fantastic option for young eager, learners that is a perfect option for university and college and I am a huge supporter of apprenticeships and should be allowed within the education curriculum. How do you balance working and studying in your apprenticeship? The structured lessons, tutorials and knowing which days I was studying in advanced allowed me to plan ahead and not loose track. What advice would you give to someone considering an apprenticeship or similar path? If you’re aged between 18-24 this is the perfect opportunity to take up. My advice is take your time, speak up and ask for help and most importantly make sure you are organised like no one else. #NAW2024 #Apprenticeships

What's the link between insurance and apprenticeships? A problem, and an answer: More people need insurance than ever. Luckily, they can count on one of the most experienced workforces of any to support them. However, that same experience is partly down to age - and the flip side is that Insurance firms are facing a shortfall of young talent. Apprenticeships can fill that pipeline, as Matt Scott discusses in Insurance Times. 🛡️ Davies, the UK’s largest provider of apprenticeships for the insurance industry, will be one of the first organisations to list its apprenticeship opportunities for Autumn 2023 on the UCAS website. The partnership with UCAS aims to reach the millions of young people looking for post-secondary school education opportunities and introduce them to the insurance and financial services world of work. 💻 Lindsay Conroy, Head of Apprenticeships, UCAS, said: “As an independent charity, UCAS is committed to ensuring young people have access to the full range of post-secondary options, putting apprenticeships alongside traditional undergraduate degrees to create real parity of choice. Almost half of people who register with us have said they would consider an apprenticeship, equating to hundreds of thousands of potential apprentices.” ✍️ The news follows the announcement earlier this year by the Department for Education and UCAS which outlined the planned expansion of the service to allow young people to search for and apply for apprenticeships alongside traditional degrees. #resultsday #UCAS #apprenticeships #insurance https://lnkd.in/ef-MTR_B
