Strategies for fostering employee connection at work. If an individual feels connected to their company they can experience job satisfaction, loyalty and more. This has been harder over recent years with hybrid working. Employee connection – what is it? It is a meaningful relationship and interaction between individuals, building a strong team and company. Connectivity can be through work, people or purpose. It can be organic or driven through hosting internal events, offering training or development. Why is it important? It fosters job satisfaction and higher retention, better communication and increased productivity. Recognising employee contributions can boost employees feeling valued. Ongoing recognition can boost happiness and connection. While some bosses might feel “That we do not pay you to be happy” what they are being short-sighted over is that a “happy” employee is not only a loyal employee but also a productive and profitable one. I have said in previous posts that there is immense value in listening to your employees, so why not spare a few minutes to hear what they say, it could be really valuable. A small but important way to connect is to either celebrate work anniversaries or birthdays, either giving a day off, making the day special, it does not have to be monetary, it could just be a personalised note or some small gesture.
