I have been asked by a few people recently, ‘What are gunnercooke like to work for?’. One month in, here’s my take on what I have seen so far.
Happy New Year, all. After a restful Christmas break, I have been reflecting on my first month or so with gunnercooke. After a wee health scare in week two (a detached retina!) I am now fully up and running and looking forward to 2024. The firm has exciting growth plans for the next 12 months and beyond, not only for the UK, but a big push in the US and Germany.
My take - this is a seriously ambitious firm, with a big heart. The energy and drive I see is infectious. But at the heart of everything is a purpose driven culture, whether this is around how we work with our clients or how we go about our day in a friendly and positive manner. The partner support functions here are exceptional and give incoming partners the opportunity to really thrive and do what they love doing, practising law!
From a personal point of view, the welcome I have received has not only been extremely warm, but genuine. There is a real sense of togetherness, and this is reflected in our Net Promoter score of 91 (in simple terms, a measure of how happy people are!).
I am looking forward to giving time to the gunnercooke foundation (see the link in the comments below). The foundation does some fantastic work in the community and it is one of the many reasons I joined the firm.
We are really keen to speak to entrepreneurial lawyers who are keen to run their own practice without the distractions that can exist in a more traditional model. We are also keen to speak to partner led teams who are keen to move. We have the infrastructure to facilitate this, and the ongoing support will be there.
I am happy to have an initial coffee with anyone who is looking for a more flexible way to practise law. Let’s not be shy about this, the financial rewards are excellent. We have a thriving internal market which enables our lawyers to work collaboratively, and which you are rewarded for in referral fees.
