21,800,000 is our lucky number. What a coincidence that IndyGo was just awarded a USDOT Federal Grant worth $21.8 million! Thank you SO MUCH to the U.S. Department of Transportation for these funds which will go towards critical traffic safety needs along part of the Blue Line corridor.https://https://lnkd.in/gHYv482H

40 years ago (yesterday) Richard Noble set a new Land Speed Record of 633mph in Thrust2. Along the way he set a new British Land Speed record of 248 mph on the runway at the the Greenham Common airbase. Richard would go on to set the record higher in Thrust SSC (piloted by Andy Green) at 763mph and then formulate the plans for Bloodhound SSC to take the speed over 1000mph. Bloodhound hasn't made it yet. the vehicle sits in Coventry Transport Museum. Having had a peripheral involvement with Bloodhound, when I left McLaren, I watched with fascination how technically complex raising the funds for the venture was. What strikes me is how the landscape of grand innovation has changed within the UK in the last few decades. Gone is the philanthropist capital that propelled and powered great engineering feats for the good of the UK. Had Lady Houston, not given Supermarine £100,000 in 1931 to ensure the Schneider Trophy went ahead, against the wishes of Ramsey McDonald's government of the day, then Britain would not have won the Schneider trophy that year and the Spitfire would not have been born.... Bloodhound got well and truly lied to and screwed over by the UK government, but the appetite for philanthropy enabling grand ambition, to lead the world in engineering feats such as Bloodhound and land speed records has well and truly gone. Which is a shame as the UK still has the Engineering skills and talent, just not the political will, funding or regulatory freedom to thrive. #innovation #ukplc #landspeedrecord #britishengineering #richardnoble

IMPORTANT LESSON TO BE LEARNED HERE - It's not very often we share videos from the Driving the Lane University of Northern Iowa Basketball show we are part of. However, when there is a lesson to be learned, I don't mind doing so. No matter if you see a successful business or nonprofit (or in this case a basketball team) . . . they had to start from somewhere. That somewhere usually started with grit, tight budgets, and sacrifice. #nonprofitleadership #nonprofits #ForProfitsToo https://lnkd.in/e4X3sTip

National 3 Peaks - £32 000.00 raised If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Last week a team from The Buying Solution supported by Timothy Bradshaw, Samantha Bradshaw and the Sandstone Communications team took on the 3 Peaks Challenge Ben Nevis Scafell Pike Snowdon The mountains did not give it up easy. After a solid start on Ben Nevis and a great driving leg by Mike Hope, the weather began to catch up with us. Zero visibility on Scafell Pike slowed things down. We deployed a few old ticks in the form of glow sticks left on each cairn (and of course collected afterwards) and the course started true. We were now racing not the clock but the inbound storms and wind warnings. A solid plan combined with a huge amount of courage and resilience saw the team on the summit and heading for home before the really strong winds hit. The real win was the £32 000.00 raised for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. It was certainly earned. In the words of Edmund Hillary “It’s not the mountains we conquer but ourselves”. Despite sore, tired and wet bodies giving up was never discussed. It is such a moment to be able to share these moments of achievement with people. You can’t buy the effect of shared experience and team work. You can’t short cut the building of bonds that are built in adversity and overcoming it together. #BecauseICan #challengeyourself #resilience #teamwork #leadership #keynotespeaker #keynote #mountain #offsite Filsell Wealth Ltd AMG Group Ltd Adventure Spec Knight Frank Peter Clark-Lewis Jonathan Bramwell Will Watson Harry Gladwin Mark Lawson MRICS Philip Eastwood Giles Elliott #teambuilding

There ya have it folks... Anyone who has spent time traveling across the US has probably seen impressively sized American flags. You see them everywhere — at local car dealerships, veteran memorials, and anywhere where people want to show off their love for America. However, only one place can claim to have the largest American flag. In 1981, Ski Demski of Long Beach, California, commissioned the Superflag, the world’s largest American flag. The Superflag is a massive flag measuring 255’x555’. It weighs more than 3,000 lbs and requires the help of more than 600 volunteers to transport! Each star is 17 feet high, and the stripes are 20 feet wide. The flag is so huge that it can cover a football field one and a half times. The Superflag holds the title for the largest American flag, but that is expected to change soon. Worchester Resources has plans to make the tiny town of Columbia Falls, Maine, home to the largest American flag and the tallest flagpole in the world. The project includes a plan to build a flagpole rising 1,776 feet above sea level (taller than the Empire State Building!), a 4,000-seat auditorium, and monument walls with the names of all 24 million US veterans. The expected completion date is July 4, 2026. If you enjoy my posts, find them EDucational and can find in your heart to contribute to my grandsons cause it would be greatly appreciated. Year 15 - it's our birthday today! The last day of #scorpioseason in 2008 was a real doozy. The world was a bit off its axis then too. Our founder, James Johnson Piett, decided he was going to start a for-profit, mission-first company that tackled the concept of community wealth building. Our first client was the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (shout out to Olga Stella!) and helping them figure out the grocery challenge in Detroit. Fast forward 15 years and we've covered a lot of ground. We own and operate social impact real estate. We're developing a place-based community REIT platform in NYC and PHL and helping others do similar work nationally. And after 15 years of business, we've spun off a non-profit project into a 501(c)3 organization - Mangrove Community Wealth Inc. - which will be the sponsor of community wealth centers and field building, starting with our Flatbush Central project in Brooklyn. Just in time for our birthday, please take a second to read our first year Impact Report on the work happening at Flatbush Central. Special thanks to the Mangrove FC team (past and present) - Abdullah Elias, Maggie Clark Bachiri, Marie-Jose Montrose, Christopher Paul, KamishaRa MezouPtah, Olando Charles, Lisa Thompson, Melissa Vigilance, Androniki Lagos, Michael Hurwitz, Christian Robles, Jean Dalce, Wislaire Louis, the list goes on and on. We're going to try to do better to share what we're up to this year, but in the interim, please check out the Impact Report! #socent #communitywealth #communitydevelopment #smallbiz #caribbeanbusiness #blackbusiness #latinobusiness #socialimpact #neighborhoodinvesting https://lnkd.in/gyAFaAyK

Project Management | Cross-Cultural Communication | Conflict Management Through Mediation | International Ballerina to Business: Building Bridges Across Cultures
It's an honor and privilege to serve Restorative Farms (RF), an incredible non-profit, located in the heart of South Dallas, Texas. RF is dedicated to transforming lives in a community facing significant challenges, including being designated the most impoverished in the state. Their core mission revolves around building a sustainable, economically strong, and well-managed urban farm serving as the foundation for a thriving community "agrisystem" within Dallas. This replicable model aims to address food deserts by providing residents with access to fresh, ethically sourced food. But RF goes beyond just food. They offer professional training and employment opportunities, empowering individuals, including those formerly incarcerated, to achieve financial stability and contribute to community development. The founders, Brad Boa, Tyrone Day, Doric Earle, and Owen Lynch, envision RF as a collaborative effort with the community to tackle three critical issues: - Providing healthy, affordable produce: Ensuring individuals living in food deserts have access to affordable, fresh, medical-grade food. - Boosting the local economy: Creating income opportunities for community members through farm production and sales. - Empowering the community: Equipping individuals with training, work experience, and leadership skills to break the cycle of poverty and resource depletion. RF is more than just a farm; it's a systems-based solution. They're committed to building a self-sustaining, climate-conscious, and profitable network of farms and people, all working towards a shared mission of community upliftment. Learn more about their inspiring work in this documentary: https://lnkd.in/gCvk3Sc2 #RestorativeFarms #CommunityEmpowerment #SustainableAgriculture #FoodJustice If RF’s mission resonates with you, I encourage you to share this post and support RF's impactful work!
