Applauding Microsoft's Neurodiversity Hiring Program 🙌 Microsoft's Neurodiversity Hiring Program is a breath of fresh air in the tech industry. This innovative initiative recognizes the immense value of neurodivergent individuals. Companies take inspiration from Microsoft's example and consider implementing similar programs to tap into the power of neurodiversity.🚨 Why it matters: 💎 Untapped Potential: Traditional interview methods often fail to capture the unique strengths of neurodivergent individuals. Their creativity and problem-solving skills might remain veiled behind social anxieties or atypical communication styles. By providing a tailored platform, the program shines a light on these often-masked talents, ensuring companies don't miss out on hidden gems. 💡 Diversity as a Catalyst for Innovation: Embracing neurodiversity is not just about inclusion; it's about cultivating a richer, more dynamic work environment. The program fosters an exchange of diverse perspectives, fueling groundbreaking ideas and solutions that might elude a homogenous workforce. 🌱 Leading by Example: Microsoft's forward-thinking approach sets a powerful precedent for other companies. It challenges traditional hiring practices and encourages a re-evaluation of how we assess and cultivate talent. This opens doors for a much wider range of individuals to contribute their unique strengths, enriching the entire tech ecosystem. ➡️ Beyond this frontrunner, what other employers do you know of that are actively supporting neurodiversity in their hiring practices and workplace culture? #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #Microsoft #TechCareers https://lnkd.in/gKp2XcMF

The Microsoft Neurodiversity Hiring Program was launched in 2015 as part of the company's broader commitment to diversity and inclusion. The program was initially developed in response to the high unemployment rates among neurodivergent individuals, despite the fact that many of these individuals possess valuable skills and talents.✍️ Through the program, Microsoft has been able to tap into a previously overlooked talent pool and benefit from the unique perspectives and problem-solving abilities of neurodivergent individuals.👨💼 By hiring and supporting neurodivergent individuals, Microsoft is promoting a more inclusive and diverse workplace culture that benefits everyone.👥 The program also helps to reduce barriers and stigmas associated with neurodivergent conditions and raises awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.🏢 It has also inspired other companies to follow suit and launch their own neurodiversity hiring programs, helping to increase employment opportunities for neurodivergent individuals across different industries🏬 #diversityandinclusion #diversity #inclusion #microsoft #amazingworkplaces #amazingworkplace #letscreateamazingworkplaces Ekta Capoor Shreyasi Raghav

STOP. LISTEN. LEARN. says Tarena Shanaberger who shared some valuable thoughts on what has been successful with Microsoft #neurodiversity at work hiring program. Their current #employeeresourcegroup has over 3000 people in the community. Wanting to know how to be more #neuroinclusive but don't know how.... Her thoughts that are valuable: Creating a listening system within your organization to gather feedback is a great start. Microsoft had certain accommodations implemented automatically. In terms of recruitment: - Candidates were automatically given more time. All were given more time. No weird "ask" - Candidates were given the opportunity to schedule interviews that works for their time and cognition. Their entire recruiting team works off of a hiring guide that was developed by #neurodivergent employees. It was created with community. Some great shares that I hope will help you as you consider next steps in creating neuroinclusion in your workplace. #neurodiversity #neuroinclusion #neurodivergent #inclusionandbelonging #wearealldifferent #normalizemindsofallkinds at work

A lot is made of the attrition rate across the Microsoft Eco-system in particular in consultancies I wanted to take this a different direction and ask my network “what keeps you in a role, why are you not looking” 1. I like working with a variety of clients – 35% 2. I’ve got career progression opportunities – 27% 3. I prefer consultancy work – 21% 4. I work remotely and like this for my lifestyle – 17% Often we talk about the war for talent and how we can’t attract anyone, but what can we do ensure our current team feel like they progress and want to continue working with us.
