Are you scrolling through your LinkedIn feed and seeing all your friends excitedly sharing job offers while you haven't received one yet? Don't worry, your time will come.
Here's some advice for you:
🗣️Don't limit your job search to online applications. Attend career fairs, join professional organizations, and network with alumni and professionals in your desired field.
📑Tailor your application materials for each job you apply to. Highlight the skills and experiences most relevant to the specific role.
🔍 Conduct thorough research on potential employers and look for the ones that share your values
🗞️Expand your research to news and recent events
❓Challenge recruiters with questions about what matters most to you, such as work-life balance, career progression, benefits, diversity, and inclusion, among others.
I was in your position not too long ago, I understand how stressful it can be. I want you to remember that just like they are hiring you, you are also hiring them. It's a two-way street! Take a deep breath.
That's why I've committed my time to support recruitment efforts at student networking events. I want you to have the confidence to be yourself. Authenticity matters. Trying to be someone you're not won't just give false expectations to them but to yourself as well.
Thank you PwC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this recruiting event and share my fresh insights, helping others learn more about what PwC does. I also had the privilege of sharing my personal transition from college to the corporate world, offering an honest viewpoint on entry-level roles, the hurdles encountered during job searches, and the formative stages of a career, helping students establish more grounded and achievable expectations.
Thank you Katie Macleod and for ALPFA at the University of North Texas for making this happen!
Yesterday's meeting with PwC was fantastic! ✨
We had a great opportunity to learn more about the company and explore potential career paths. It was also great to reconnect with previous members and learn more about their experiences.
Thank you for taking the time to invest in us and share your knowledge and expertise.
