I once stumbled on a short on Instagram claiming that walking, such as walking in a mall, should not be a part of your physical activity routine, as it is not considered training. As a coach, I find this statement deceiving. Yes, when our client adopts a sedentary lifestyle and is just starting their health journey, advising them to walk 10,000 steps a day is proven to be ineffective. However, walking shouldn't be discounted as a form of physical training. Having a target to walk 7,000 steps a day, or 20–60 minutes a day, should be considered training, as it has been shown to improve physiological and psychological metrics.
