This February I will be joining a Winter Run in London in support of Cancer Research. As some of you might know, cancer has touched my family last year and I want to dedicate this race to my mother - who we lost to pancreatic cancer in November 2023 after a 9 month battle at the age of only 46 years old. Going through it last year and speaking to my colleagues and friends made me realise how many families around me have faced this battle and lost their loved ones to this horrible illness. According to Cancer Research, 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their life time, which a scary ratio. I do wish will all my heart, as the time passes & research progresses less & less people will have to face this difficult challenge. Cancer Research UK's the world's leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information. Our pioneering work is changing lives on a global scale. £20 covers the cost of running Cancer Chat for 1 hour. As a safe online space, Cancer Chat can be a vital lifeline to patients and their families, who may feel isolated or overwhelmed, or who simply need to speak to someone who understands what they’re going through. £30 could buy special food to grow cells in the lab, allowing scientists to find out more about cancer than ever before.  £50 could fund one of Cancer Research UK's cancer nurses and their amazing work with people affected by cancer for 2 hours. £100  could pay for a patient's cancer biopsy where a ting amount of tumour is removed with a needle to be studied in the lab. 6.5 million euros funding from the European FIGHT KIDS CANCER program for four projects at #KiTZ focused on childhood #braintumors and the development of new #diagnostic and #therapeutic procedures. The "Fight Kids Cancer" program, supported by non-profit organizations, funds transnational early #clinicalstudies and #researchprojects aimed at improving the situation for children with #cancer. Clinical pediatric cancer research relies on international collaboration due to the small patient population, and programs like “Fight Kids Cancer“ are crucial for enabling these efforts. SWCF has been around for 50 years. 1.        Our mission statement: to eradicate cancer by funding collaborative cross-institutional research to identify and correct abnormal gene functions that cause cancer. This research is the basis for developing minimally toxic treatments for all patients with cancer. We have had much success in the last 50 years by helping to develop some of the most breakthrough treatments.
