International Energy News - Gulf of Mexico🌎 Wood Awarded Detailed Engineering Design Contract for Trion FPU🛢 Wood has recently been awarded a detailed engineering design contract for the topside facilities of the Trion Floating Production Unit (FPU) in the Gulf of Mexico by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. The Trion project, which is Woodside Energy's initiative, is poised to produce 100,000 barrels per day and will be connected to a large floating storage and offloading vessel. This venture represents Mexico's inaugural deepwater development, with a notable depth of 2,500 meters. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, the project's EPC contractor, has chosen Wood for this role following the successful completion of Trion's pre-FEED and FEED design. John Day, President of Oil, Gas, and Power at Wood, highlighted their innovative design process in earlier project stages and their focus on integrating decarbonization into the design. He also mentioned Wood's long-term partnership with Woodside, emphasizing its commitment to efficiency, emission reduction, and value for its clients. SeonMook Lim, Engineering Vice President of the Offshore Engineering Division at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, expressed excitement about reuniting with Wood for the Trion FPU Project, their first collaboration since 2005. Lim looked forward to creating another successful EPC story with this project. The detailed topside design work for the Trion FPU project will be undertaken by Wood's teams in Houston (USA) and Bogota (Colombia) over the next three years. Wood has a significant track record in the Gulf of Mexico, having designed over 50% of the topside facilities there in the last decade. Worley has been awarded a front end engineering design (FEED) contract for the first phase of Statera Energy’s 3 GW Kintore Hydrogen project in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The proposed FEED study has a target completion date in 2024, and the project will be ready for a final investment decision in 2025. The full 3 GW of production is expected to be online by the 2030s. Once operational, the project will be the largest renewable (green) hydrogen project in Europe. The project aims to harness surplus electricity generated by Scotland’s offshore wind resources to produce renewable hydrogen, which will play a critical role in decarbonizing power generation facilities and carbon-intensive industrial clusters across the country. #hydrogen #greenhydrogen #project #wind #offshorewind #scotland

𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 Uniper has awarded Aker Carbon Capture a Process Design Package (PDP) to deliver design studies for our proposed Grain Carbon Capture project at our Grain power station in the Southeast of England, on the Isle of Grain, in Kent. The project is a proposal to retrofit post combustion carbon capture technology on up to all three of the existing Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) units at the power plant. The PDP delivery process, will allow #Uniper to evaluate Aker Carbon Capture’s technology for one of the three gas turbines. At the end of the PDP process, a technology licensor will be selected to move to the front end engineering and design phase ahead of a final investment decision, which is expected to be taken by Uniper in the mid-2020s. Roger Brandwood, Project Manager for Uniper’s Grain Carbon Capture project, said: “The award of the first PDP contract to Aker Carbon Capture signifies a key milestone in the development of our plans to decarbonize electricity production at our Grain power station. The Grain Carbon Capture project will contribute towards Uniper’s ambitious strategy to make our European power generation 80% carbon-neutral by 2030. Additionally, it could also help to support the UK’s transition to a decarbonized electricity system by potentially removing over two million tonnes of CO₂ per year whilst continuing to provide flexible and reliable power to the national grid. We look forward to working with Aker Carbon Capture during this first phase of the design competition, to identify the most effective technology solutions to help deliver Uniper’s and the UK’s #decarbonization strategies.” 🤝 #TheBeatingHeartOfEnergy #EnergyEvolutionStartsWithU #SecurityOfSupply

Proper O&M of PV assets can address performance issues, optimize efficiency and lengthen the lifespan of a system. 💯 I look forward to joining my fellow industry colleagues for this month's Ask Mayfield Anything - Protecting PV Assets Through Proper Equipment Testing Wednesday, March 27th at 12 PM PST Last summer, Outfit filmed Jesse Waters and Chris Grablutz, Co-Founders of Tri-Force Energy, Ahmed El-Rasheed, PhD, Industry Director - Renewables of Megger and Ryan Mayfield, Founder & SME of Mayfield Renewables for work on the Electrical Testing Standards Guide. 📹 Workforce development cannot rely training in the field alone. It is not realistic as the industry scales. 👈 Education modules need to be accessible to the masses online. The key is to create a dynamic learning environment. 💡 Lucas Miller, Senior Engineering Consultant of Mayfield and Brendan Brown, Interdisciplinary Designer of Outfit have developed a new in-depth course on Insulation Resistance training. Our goal is to replicate the field environment with an interactive walkthrough of a PV system featuring 3D Design. ⚡ Leading project developers, manufacturers and B2B service providers should join us for this month's AMA. We share a collective responsibility to educate and train our workforce. Register today 👉 https://lnkd.in/gUSqJAqc #renewableenergy #energystoragesystems #evmobility #consulting #agencylife

As the clean energy industry develops more projects, engineering, procurement, and construction companies (EPCs) together with developers are at the frontlines of rapidly building a workforce that operates safely and competently. To meet this moment, these companies are integrating multiple strategies, including building registered apprenticeship programs, partnering with unions, and recruiting from diverse workforce talent pools. During American Clean Power Association (ACP)’s #CLEANPOWER24 Conference, CPI’s Chief Strategy and Program Officer Laura Wilson Phelan led a discussion with developers and EPC experts - Jesse Canzler of Mortenson, Martha Ontiveros of Pattern Energy Group, and Matt Tetrault of MasTec Renewables – on building a sustainable, competent, and diverse workforce to meet the pace of clean energy growth. Panelists shared that key impediments to building the needed workforce, including persistent training deficits, recruitment challenges, and perceptions of the construction industry, hinder efforts to expand the talent pipeline. Meanwhile, high salaries, sustainable career pathways, and partnerships with notable nonprofits such as UnidosUS (@WeAreUnidosUS) aid recruitment, diversification, and retention efforts.
