🌴 Is Cannes getting better every year? Why was 2024 different?🌴 1️⃣ Creators - This year was the first year that Cannes had a creator track (with programming run by the wonderful Jamie Gutfreund). Previously Cannes and VidCon have been at the same time, forcing creators to forgo the ad festival. This year that changed and there was a strong Creator Economy presence - celebrating that creators will be at the heart of advertising from now on. 2️⃣ Inclusion - The team behind Cannes Lions and industry senior leadership have made a conscious effort to create a more inclusive space. Programs like #SeeItBeIt, #CannesForAll #BlackAtCannes and Brixton Finishing School have created space to celebrate inclusion and diverse perspectives. Of course there are still characters in the industry living out old school Don Draper fantasies, but there is also dialogue about what’s acceptable and more opportunities to report bad behaviour. 3️⃣ Cannes with Intention - FOMO at Cannes is inevitable. You cannot be at every party, panel or connect with everyone you want to. However, the Digital Voices team worked particularly hard this year to create intentional and calm spaces, where people could really connect. These took the form of panels on the beach, 121 Visionary Voices interviews, massages and smoothies, intimate Michelin star dinners, helicopters to a private vineyard tour and lunch… Ursula Mejía Melgar was a huge inspiration for being present and ruthlessly prioritizing what you value at the festival. I have always felt like more of an entrepreneur than a part of the advertising industry. But this year was the first time I felt deeply part of the community. Thank you to the wonderful people I spent time with, who made my Cannes about real connection. Crucially, thank you to Kerry Meakins, Neve Fear-Smith, Arthur Barker, Olivia Farr, Kaal Khatri, Mollie Webb-MacLeod, Lizzie Emrich-Mills, Peter Bamforth, Georgia Goodwin, Lewis T. and Danielle Weaver for the phenomenal work on our activations. Final cherry on top of an incredible week was watching our DoorDash client win the Titanium Grand Prix for all the ads! 🏆 The work that went into the Super Bowl ad was immense. Seriously well done to the team!

Jennifer Quigley-Jones It is great to see creators getting the acknowledgement in the industry! They are such powerful players in the marketing space. How do you think Cannes can continue to build on these inclusion efforts next year?
