While getting my Masters in Engineering at Cornell Tech this year I had the opportunity to take a Buisisness class: Leadership skills for a VUCA world with retired Gen. George Casey. This class was an incredible experience. Not only did it give me valuable tools that I’ve been able to put to use, it also gave me insight into how businesses should operate in our Volatile Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous world.

More than three years ago, New York Institute of Technology established a campus-wide "First-Generation Student Task Force" composed of faculty, staff, and students to raise awareness, recognize, and celebrate its #firstgen students. What is the First Impression of your Campus? What do visitors see when they visit campus? What is their experience as they park or arrive by Uber or by foot to the campus? As has been said many times before, first impressions are the most lasting, and most potential students form their opinion of a school within minutes of arriving on campus. What impression does your campus make? Is it the impression you want someone to have? The attached article provides some readily achieved items to consider.

I love this concept of “majoring in the future.” Choosing a job path for the next 40 years in college feels like a fool’s errand these days. Whatever the job is now will be very different in 20 years. There’s a good chance that the job you have 20 years from now is a role or industry that doesn’t exist today. And I think anybody my age or younger is resigned to never being able to retire unless you’re in the top 5-10% of having either 6-figure income or 7-figure wealth.

It’s been a busy week, first delivering an Education and Training Foundation VPU at Stoke on Trent College which was lovely. Then meetings with companies such as Intel Corporation and others to talk about education and Digital skills. Now at the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Institute of Technology with students getting a masterclass in node red and industry 4.0 #tlevels #cpd #digital #industry4
