Rural Americans of all stripes are learning how much school vouchers hurt local communities, and are banding together to defend public education from extremist attacks. Georgia, Texas, and Idaho rejected school vouchers bills this year across partisan lines. So far dozens of Marylanders, from the Lower Eastern Shore to western Frederick County and from the Baltimore-area to the DMV, have taken action using the advocacy tool below to tell our state legislators the millions in proposed budget cuts to community colleges are absolutely unacceptable. If you care about quality, accessible, affordable higher education, take action now. There's no more prudent budget allocation the Maryland General Assembly can make than toward community colleges. It's a tough budget year in Maryland, but it's clear education is the priority. Proposed funding for public PK-12 and universities is up. There's absolutely no reason community colleges should be facing funding cuts, but we are, and we are going to have to push back collectively on a statewide level. Maryland coworkers, colleagues, and stakeholders, take action now and tell your state senator and delegate/s to fully and fairly fund our community colleges! https://lnkd.in/eWVAE__4

Public schools are being forgotten. They are the foundation, and the reason for our success as a country. Our country is failing because our public schools are being de-funded, and driven into failure. We must re-invent our schools. They must be the best in the world. We must not allow the genius of public education to be obliterated by those who want privately owned schools that will cater to some students while ignoring the rest. We already see the results of schools that are not revered...apathy disengagement, and tragically soulless. We need to gather together and rebuild our schools. There is one thing I can tell you about public schools when done correctly, they become the heart of communities, not the decline.

Over the years I have had to combat so many of the dumb assumptions people and organizations have spouted off about charter public schools. In one corner you have that we only serve gifted white religious students, in another corner is empty because special education students are not allowed to attend. Both of these assumptions are wrong. Just because you say it's true doesn't magically make it so. Too many politicians, especially those in the Golden State, are purposely ignorant about charter public schools so that they can continue to accept the endorsement and cash from labor groups that never support what is best for students. Let's be clear, charter public schools are open to all, help their authorizing school districts meet the pressing need of all students in the community and have been given a bad wrap because most are a success. Stop believing the lies and make plans this week to call a charter public school in your community and plan a visit. These schools are best enjoyed in person. Don't have students? That's okay! Most charter leaders want to meet and gain the support of the community so you definitely fit the bill. Add to that, most leaders would love your interest and philanthropic interest so visiting a charter public school can seal that deal. 💚 #charterschool #publiceducation #misinformation
