While the cloud software companies do not have the expected growth, there is need for continued investment in AI/ GenAI, to be competitive as customers look for solutions with AI in them. AI/ GenAI is still in early stages, the no. of use cases going past POC into production is about 2 to3 per 100. As mentioned in the article, earlier cloud was mostly sold with cost as the primary value proposition followed by time to market and scale (for growth). Whereas with AI, it is based on the 'value' created, by amplifying the potential across the entire business process value chain. Also to get the quantum leap with AI, it is required to reimagine the complete business process in an AI first manner, and skills to map business process and technology that closely is scarce. Demonstrating value is also a long process, need to remain invested with lot of consulting and experimentation.
